What came first? The chicken or the egg?
I just got done appealing my property taxes online (fingers crossed, I have won before) and decided to ponder this question.
May the Wise Men (and Women) of Moe's Tavern enlighten me.

I never understood this question. A chicken egg can only come from a chicken. We know species have evolved from other species. The first chicken was likely evolved from another delicious bird. Or a dinosaur. Or something.
Hence, any eggs before the first chicken were not chicken eggs, the first chicken was hatched from an egg of it’s predecessor species, and as such, the “chicken” came before the chicken egg, but after the egg of whatever species from which it came.

Depends on your chosen beliefs.
If you are into the Christian thing, the book states God created all creatures. BANG! It's a chicken.
Regarding the evolution theory, I tend to think about it this way: the egg came first...but it weren't no chicken. Yet.

Hmm well I walked into that one without realizing it. Fair enough.

That still leaves us with the "road" quandary.

The egg - laid by a bird that was not a chicken.

I don't understand the question. I thought we are OK ignoring biology -- therefore, a giraffe is capable of laying an egg of any species. What came first? A giraffe.
Why did the chicken cross the road? She didn't -- her giraffe picked her up and dropped her on the other side.
Class dismissed -- see you all at the virtual Harvard graduation in 2021.
