So they have a Beatle station, Elvis, Tom Petty, Grateful Dead but no Allman Brothers station. Am I missing something here?

I do not stray much from 50's on 5, 60's on 6, 70's on 7, and Soultown (49).

Actually, this is one of the things that pisses me off about Sirius. I go through moods -- sometimes it's country (which has really started to suck) but more often it's Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, or Deep Tracks. It really torques my ass when they replace one of these channels with all Queen, all Led Zep, all Who -- I can't think of a single band or performer that I would want to hear 24/7.
JFC -- can't you idiots leave anything alone?

I've got buddies who are radio programmers, have done it for years, been successful at it. It is hard to program to attract and hold an audience. Going all (whoever) all the time is taking the easy way out -- but does not really serve the audience. It's a cop-out masquerading as oh-so-cool.

I don’t mind the artist specific channels, but I don’t listen long or often.

I toggle between classic vinyl and classic rewind. Occasionally wander to the Beatles channel and 70s on 7.

An Allman Bros station would be great.
I listen to the Beatles station some. I find the “single artist” stations useful not because I listen to them for extended periods, but because it’s nice to go there and know what you’re getting.
I also do a lot of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, classic vinyl. Plus a few like the Bridge and a similar one that I don’t remember the name of.

Margaritaville has Jimmy of course, but Little Feet, various other Island sound music, it also features curated play lists and concert replays, similar to the Dead Radio.

We like when they have the Billy Joel station. They play more than just the hits, and we learned about a lot of great songs of his through that channel. I could listen to that one more regularly.

I am not sure how long we will have Sirius.we got a trial with the car purchase, 90 days. I don't know if we will sign up or not. Normally listen to NPR. Prolly let my wife decide. Not a big deal but sometimes it is cool. We have an ipod we should set up, it's in a drawer somewhere. BUT.. and its a big but, an ABS station would be...way cool.

If you are patient you can negotiate a significant savings over sticker price on Siris/xm

I listed to Little Steven's Underground Garage quite often. Yes and Chris Carter does a cool British Invasion show on there. The B.B. King Blues channel has a wide variety of blues.

One of the secrets of SiriusXM are the sports channels that carry the broadcast of a game from both the home and away broadcast teams.

I have had it in the past- have it now on a trial. My biggest issue is how often the same songs repeat for months on channels like the 80s and Hair Nation.

If you are patient you can negotiate a significant savings over sticker price on Siris/xm 100%, especially right now. Mine was up at the end of July, and I am leasing a new car (with 3 month of free Sirius) in October. So I called them and told them I wanted to cancel. That's always your default position. then they offered me 6 months for $50. I declined. I told them I was going to get 3 months for free in October so I didn't want to lock myself in. Then they offered me, without any further negotiation, three months for $2 a month. I accepted that, figuring it bridges the gap between now and my new lease for almost nothing. I looked at the bill online, and they actually gave me all three months for $2.00 total (plus tax and fees). then, they applied a credit for the 6 days I had remaining on my previous contract. The bill for the three months of service was $0.01. In my experience, they will not allow you to close your account without a fight. They will make you an offer you can't refuse, you just have to be willing to push them and portray that you are ready to walk away if you don't get the deal you want. I always do things that way, but I negotiate stuff for a living so it comes natural to me.

I'd love to see an ABB station. Like Margaritaville, they could play associated acts too. ABB, Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jack Pearson, and others would make it very interesting IMO.

I don't recall a straight up ABB station, but there definitely was a Souther Rock one that was around for a bit, that wasn't bad.
