I’m going to a heart failure clinic and weight is one factor being monitored and controlled. I started at 217 lbs and have been consistently losing about a pound a day after an initial 7 lb loss. This morning I weighed in @ 197.6 lbs. It will be interesting to see where I bottom out as my loss is mostly water weight. I’m really feeling a lot better!

Funny you should ask. When I departed for England in September 2019, I was at 205.
When I return in February 2020, I was at 187.
I'm now at 176.
It's all been portion control and pretty much across the board elimination of sweets and alcohol from my diet.
Clothes fit better, blood sugar under control (for the most part).
My regime now is to weigh myself every morning. Getting some physical exercise, though probably not enough.
But as my bride noted, I no longer have "Dunlop's Disease." That's where your belly done lop over your belt.
So ..... so far so good. Probably not looking to move below 175.

You guys are lightweights! I only dream of getting back down to those weights again! (And - how tall are you?)
I'm just under 6'2" and at the top of my "COVID-19" food-fest this winter I was at around 244 lbs. My wife and I stared getting serious about getting the weight off a couple weeks ago, and this morning I weighed 234 even - so down 10 lbs.
I'd like to get back to 205 (where I was a few years ago when I got serious about dropping the pounds), but even if I'm at 215, I feel pretty good (especially if I'm doing some weights regularly as well - maybe I oughta get offa here right now and go do that...).
P.S. Weighed 175 through H.S. and college. Haven't seen it since I sat down at a desk...

Part of my concept is I don’t weigh myself often, so as not to discourage myself if it’s slow.
But, I did just buy some new t-shirts a size smaller than the last ones, so things are moving in the right direction.

My chino size these days is 34 waist, 32 inseam.

And to JimmySee's comment about blood sugar - yeah - getting the pounds off always puts my cholesterol right in the "good" range. Amazing how that happens.

I have to weigh each morning and record it in a notebook they furnished. The Nurse Practitioner supervising my case looks at every entry. Also tracking sodium intake with a <1500mg/day goal. Know how easy it is to blow that one!

Sodium is tough --- there is sodium in EVERYTHING -- lots of it -- way more than needed. I stropped eating red bag Cheetos -- love 'em but not now. Just too damn much sodium.

It's so unfair that at my age (73) I have lost two inches in height. Which turns the acceptable weight I was, into "waisted space."

I lost around 60 pounds 7 years ago. So far I’ve beaten the odds and have kept it off by fasting 3 days a week. It was tough at first but has become routine.

I lost 10 lbs., mostly by cutting carbs. It wasn't easy, as I love bread. And beer. And potatoes.
But I feel good at 208 lbs.
I weighed 205 lbs. when I joined the SO in 1983, so that's not bad.

As I approached 60 yrs. at 215 lbs, I decided to lose some weight. Today at 71, I go betweeen 180 - 185. A bit more exercise and portion control is my approach.

By the way, I am 5’11”, used to be a smidge over 6’0”. I dropped another 0.8 lbs since Sunday and weight was 196.8 this morning. The only changes I’ve made to diet is trying to reduce/control sodium.

I think the height loss portion of this thread is more interesting.
I have kyphosis of the spine (“roundback”, not to a hunchback appearance quite yet) which has resulted in me going from roughly 6’1” to now hovering right around 6 feet.
A chiropractor once told me that if my spine were straight like normal, I probably would be about 6’4”.

Apparently so. What I have been told is it should have been operated on when I was a kid. Instead my parents just constantly yelled me to stand up straight as if I was doing it intentionally, meanwhile it wasn’t medically possible.

My loss is caused by 67 years of wear & tear. So far I have 3 grandsons who have exceeded 6’0”. 6’1”, 6’3” and 6’3”. I still have 3 more grandsons growing into their 👟.

Further reductions will be one marble at a time...
