In my DRRI thread there was some discussion of comparison between the DRRI and the Blues Junior. I honestly know know if one is more 'boxy' than the other but there is certainly a different voice. I can't say one is 'better' than the other. I have both and don't expect to part with either one.
Here is a quick sound sample of the Junior. You may note I did put in the beam blocker. I have no way to A/B the beam blocker but I think it was worth it. This is just clean no pedals with a Telecaster. I"m just noodling around nothing in particular. I don't believe putting it in shredding screaming overdrive tells you much about the amp.

Here is another sample taken about a year ago with same amp except I ran it through a typical pedalboard with compressor, drive and delay. I think I used the Keeley Workstation which is a combo pedal and the TC Flashback on this. The Bjr is probably at around 4 on both the master and volume. The point of this video is, I think, to show that it takes pedals nicely.
Okay my bad.. might have done a little shredding.

Larry, I have had both amps . To my ears the blues jr sounds smaller and more aggressive with more of a mid hump than the drri . I e attribute some of those differences in el84 s 6v6, cabinet size and tone stack . I think the blues jr is a decent . To me a lot of it comes down to whether or not you like el84 tubes or not. To be honest they are not my cup o tea . I once passed on a peavey classic 30 that was a good amp too.
Nice playing btw.
