If only. If only! If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Never let the perfect get in the way of the possible.

Throwing caution to the wind, I ordered one today from Sweetwater. Seven pounds, seven ounces. Not bad for a mahogany body guitar.
In the natural finish.
It should arrive tomorrow.
My expectations are .. it's a tele.
But workmanship on the Chinese guitars, I hear, is pretty good.
The combination of my impulsive nature, and general boredom from sitting around during Covid-times, was my undoing here.

I have some MIC Charvel's that are superb builds. There are great craftsman in all corners of the world. Comes down to the brands QC requirements, and the appointments of the instrument. These look nice. I haven't' had the Tele bug yet.
I've been digging the 91-94 MIJ Squiers. Have one coming in tomorrow.

My tele was supposed to be delivered today -- but UPS bumped it to tomorrow -- no biggie.

I wonder how it's routed under the pickguard.
That'd be my problem buying a guitar like this. New pickups, Warmoth neck, then body...

That'd be my problem buying a guitar like this. New pickups, Warmoth neck, then body... LOL! *Almost* been there, done that. Of course, when you're done, you can just reassemble all the parts from the original guitar and resell it, and keep the "upgraded" replacement guitar!

My offset tele arrived yesterday quite late. Have not had, really, any time to spend with it so far -- but I do have some initial impressions.
The instrument is beautifully crafted. The body blank is really well matched so can not really tell where the seams are -- it's probably a two or three piece body, but no mismatches of grain in the natural finish. The red mahogany is beautiful.
Neck is comfortable (but I am not especially picky). Fretwork is surprisingly good. No real woodgrain on the neck. Neck pocket is tight. I like that the guitar has the old school tele bridge.
The pickups sound good through my stay-at-home amp (Mustang LT50).
Weighs in at 7 pounds 7 ounces. Not bad for me.
The only criticism of the guitar is Squier uses that shiny hard finish -- like hermetically sealing the body and neck for 1,000 years -- I'd rather the guitar had a little less hard shell finish -- but I guess they need to protect the pricier guitars up the line from being canabalized by these lower end instruments.
And .. my own playing remains horrible.

Speaking of “if only” if only there were a lefty... I'm a lefty, too -- but my golf game and guitar playing have always been righty (both horrible, by the way).

Sending the offset tele back to Sweetwater. It's a very nice guitar but in the end I determined it does not offer any more than my other teles offer.
On the other hand, took delivery yesterday on a Paranormal Super-Sonic in metallic grey. Alder body, Indian laurel fingerboard. Made in China -- most amazing part -- weighs in at 6 pounds 10 ounces.
Two "atomic humbuckers" whatever those are -- but they sound good.
Got nothing else like it.
Sweetwater is taking my return -- no problemo.

Do you have to pay return postage to Sweetwater?

Do you have to pay return postage to Sweetwater? They sent me a return FedEx Ground label, but will deduct the cost ($10.80) from my refund. That's way cheaper than I could have sent it back myself.
