...on two of my Larrivee guitars! Get your minds out of the gutter!
Seriously, though - I just replaced and recut the nuts on two of my Larrivee L-bodies; an '88/89 L-04 (Sitka/Flamed Maple) that had a nut that had clearly been used for both lefty and righty use...wide string slots all the way from E to e... weird; basically someone got lazy. It plays better and looks great now. (It does need to have the saddle slot refilled and re-angled for my lefty use...something I will let a pro do).
The other is my 2015 L-05 (Sitka/Mahogany) custom. I had accidentally gotten a couple of the string slots too low, refilled (with bone dust and Super Glue) then recut them...but I didn't like the result. Just finished that one tonight, and it now plays great.
Don't know how many of you work on your own guitars, but it does give you a sense of accomplishment when you get even a minor project like this done! And I feel like I have a couple new guitars again!

I work on mine, but don't mess with the nut. I just got that new-to-me OM-18V back from the shop where it got a setup, which included some nut work on the B and E strings. It plays much better now. The original micarta nut and saddle had been replaced somewhere along the way with bone.
The shop was Rocky Mountain Guitars in Salida, CO, which is the next town south of me. Jeff Bamburg's place. He had several of his guitars hanging on the wall, and they are gorgeous!

He is, mikey, and I believe I saw a very handsome left-handed dreadnought in a display case by the front door. (Just checked, it's on his website, link below.) He builds a gorgeous guitar. Pricey, but first-class. www.rockymtnguitar.com/

That lefty is a nice looking guitar. Price seems to be in line with the craftsmanship. His neck joint looks interesting; it would be interesting to play one and see how it seems to impact the tone.
His two week "build your own guitar" course looks interesting; sounds like a good retirement "vacation" plan!

He calls that the "cantilever" something or rather. Puts the truss rod adjustment at the headstock instead of the other end. Interesting.
I'm seriously considering the guitar building course in October. Eight hours a day for two weeks!
