If you have a pedal with a noise gate control, check its setting before thinking there is a problem with the pedal.

Ah yes.
I was only getting intermittent sound while it was on.
After a day or so I thought to give the knobs a twirl.

I was only getting intermittent sound while it was on. After a day or so I thought to give the knobs a twirl. I have had similar experience with other devices that gave me some pause thinking the problem was elsewhere.

I've spun every knob on the amp before realizing the bass wasn't plugged in .
