Does anyone have a recommended resource for a custom paint shop? I have a very specific idea of what I am looking for in my 'forever' SG and can't find what I want. The current SG Standard '61 is spot on what I am looking for but the historic cherry is the color I want (am looking for a the much darker and deeper red aniline dye look that my 2006 SG Standard has). The standard has a wonderful historic cherry but it too light and too orange for what I have in mind.
So, my crazy idea is to get the new '61 and then sent it out for a new paint job. This, of course, is all nonsense but... i've been thinking about what I have wanted in an SG for years, played the '61 and was blown away except it isn't spot on.
Thoughts? Suggestions? This is not super logical but I'm afraid logic went out the window years ago....

A custom bike shop can shoot just about any color you can imagine. They are a great resource for small specialist paint jobs, and many welcome non-bike jobs because it breaks up the routine.
The thing is you'd have to do most all the prep work such as remove the hardware, etc., because they may not have experience with guitars.

Is Dawn still doing that? I thought she had stopped.

Got a quote back from Gibson (via Sweetwater) to take a stock '61 SG Standard and redo the finish to a more traditional aniline dye look... $6,000+
So... no.
No luck on Naked Body Guitars - facebook pages hasn't had a post for 5 years and no answer at the number.
Mmmmmm.

That's ridiculous. Ask around and see if you have a paint shop in your area that does wood finishing (cabinetry, etc.) or a furniture repair/refinishing business. If you're gonna be particular about the color then you want someone experienced in color-matching.
