Any you say, 'so what'. Well, because I've never put a new set on it and still you say, 'so what' and I say because I think 17 years is long enough. But, not because they are aged or anything. In fact, they still work pretty good as they are. Besides that, this Strat has been a dedicated guitar used with my Roland VG 99 and so, it has the 'GK3' system mounted on it and I only play this guitar when playing this system for the most part. I'm changing the strings out because I've got 6 sets of Ernie Ball slinkys in 9 gauge and I think this guitar would take them well. The other reason is because I've never played a guitar with 9's on it and I want to find out if I might like them better than any other string gauge I've used over the years. I've used 10 to 13 gauge sets on various other guitars and makes of guitars over the years but, I've always had a 'stop point' as to how light a string I would play and that's 10's. Anyway, that's what I'm doing today...while I'm 'imprisoned' in my house because the park decided to do a repave/seal of the street and repainting of the curbs and bumps.

Seventeen years on one set of strings is long enough to birth a child, teach 'em to speak, and have them ready for college. You DO take your time with stuff, don't'cha? Beats sitting inside and drinking...which a whole lot of my friends seem to be doing these days. Rock on, Ludwig!

Oh, that's not the only guitar that had aged strings on it. My 380L PZ (same years on them) was the same way. Just never thought they were bad enough to change and really didn't think after all these years, they needed changed. I just have so many guitars, they don't get played much.
