It was 107 degrees in my neck of the woods yesterday. Had to run the A/C all day .................. and for the first time ever for me .... ran it all night as well. It was still 93 degrees when I turned off the lights at 9:00 pm. I'm guessing this is what it's like in Arizona most of the time, eh?

I'm guessing this is what it's like in Arizona most of the time, eh? Oh, only from about mid April to sometime in October in the desert areas. There is the higher elevations as in Flagstaff ~6900 ft above sea level that are much cooler, and downright cold in the winter. However, winter in the desert is wonderful and is what everybody enjoys to the max.

Las Vegas as well ... expecting about 114 today. But it should cool down to the 90s overnight. 😉
Edited to add: looking at the forecast yesterday it called for 115 Sunday and Monday then dropping to a high of 89 for Tuesday and Wednesday.
I'll be interested to see that. 😋

It's 109 right now where I live in Thousand Oaks, CA. It rarely gets over 100 here.
Luckily it got down to around 70 last night so I didn't need to run the air conditioning all night. A fan in the bedroom was sufficient until power went out around 2am. Came back a little after 6am just minutes after I set up a deep cycle battery and inverter (it figures).

On the way back stayed overnight in Flagstaff and there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

I have a screensaver on my desktop monitor: a photo of my backyard last year, showing frost on the grass and on my neighbor's roof. Must've been nigh onto 39 degrees that day! Helps me "think cool".

119˚F in Needles right now.
Luckily, we're on the coast and far enough north that we're only experiencing a balmy 94˚. But even up here, the inland valleys are cooking.
Now I remember why I left SoCal many decades ago...

We were in Las Vegas for my 50th birthday when they set a new record high temperature of 118 degrees. It was effin' brutal. Cars were sinking into the blacktop in the parking lots. Even the natives were complaining.
Worse yet, that night was set the new record {high/low} temperature of 96 degrees. It was insane. I was looking out the window of our room at the Mirage at all the lights on the Strip and wondering how many tens of thousands of dollars per minute it cost to keep that town lit up and cooled down.
Uninhabitable, in my opinion. Although a couple million folks might chose to disagree.

My son's friend and family moved to Yuma Arizona in the 1990's and some summer days hit 119. I'll take North Texas heat

I remember riding the Harley from Bakersfield, CA to Las Vegas and stopping at a restaurant in Baker, CA that has the world’s “largest” thermometer outside. I remember it being 120+ degrees and my wife and I were stopping at the restaurant to get out of the heat and rehydrate. Being from Wisconsin I was amazed that people could get used to living in those temperatures.

My prediction based on the forecast was accurate. Record high in Vegas yesterday 114 degrees 121 in LA county is crazy!
