I've been snapping digital images since 2005.
Organized my archive earlier this year; got over 50k photos stored in the Apple cloud.
We've got a fine art printer here in Madison, and I've got a few prints at the framer.
But recently discovered Shutterfly. Their photobooks are a very good product.
Printing job is top rate, you can order extra heavy stock, matte printing, and lay-flat books.
Today I sorted through archives from four visits to Paris, between 2005 and 2013, discovered I had waaaaaay too many out of focus shots, and put together a 110 page book with 275 or so images.
I edited the shots to get the images I wanted. Shutterfly handled basic layout, but I was able to go through it, edit and recrop/reposition as necessary.
The book has a hard cover and based on my first try, photos from our visit to Florence in February 2019, I am confident it will turn out great.
Shutterfly also runs specials all the time, so at the end of the day, ordering this custom book really did not cost more than custom framing of one 24x18 print.
Also, had some questions/issues/needed help with downloading and layout. Shutterfly customer service was extremely helpful in walking me through it all and getting the order in -- even suggested the discount code that saved me ~~~~ $135 on the order.

Mrs. Leftee has made many photobooks with SF.
They have all been really nice, indeed.

That’s our primary use for digital pictures. We have one for each of my daughter’s birthdays, every vacation, every Christmas, etc. We did one when we renovated our house. My wife did one for her best friend when she moved away. They’re great.
We must have 40 or so of them at the present time.
Discount codes are almost always available. I’ve also gotten entirely free photo books (just paying the shipping) from various sources. There are also coupons available on eBay for about $2. I’ve never paid full price for a photo book (or anything else on Shutterfly). I’ve created the books and then waited until I had a code to order them. I actually have a quarantine book going right now, but I haven’t really determined what the end point of that will be.
We have them all lined up on a shelf in our entertainment unit and people visiting always like to grab a couple and flip through them.

My wife is a big user of Shutterfly. We had a family reunion a while ago and she had photo books made up from it and gave it to family members.
