A lot of us have accumulated a number of stompboxes over the years and end up putting some of them on extended furlough after finding a new better pedal that does the job better.. Then the ones that aren't trade fodder or worth selling sit in our practice areas or are hidden in a drawer or on a shelf. And then one day you rediscover that pedal and rediscover its magic.
In my case I opened a packing box that had some old pedals and found a MXR Dyna-Comp. I hadn't tried it out for maybe three or four years because I never found a setting I liked. I tried some different settings than I had used before and then the magic happened. I guess I hadn't found the sweet spot before. Now it is in my regular pedal chain.
Anyone rediscover an old out-of-favor stomp box?

Zoom Driver 5000. It wasn't necessary out of favor, but for quite a few years I played through just a Roland Micro Cube. When I got back out my bigger amps I got the Zoom Driver and a DOD stereo chorus back out, too. You can get a lot of tones out of the Zoom Driver.

The HAO Rust Driver.
I had one 10 years ago and let it go. I found a nice used one a couple years ago (they’re not made any more). This one stays.
One of the simplest and best sounding Marshall-in-a-box pedals, IMO.

Not a pedal, but....I recently fired up my vintage, original first issue Sholz Rockman. I used it with some decent Sony MDR V600 headphones...hell, now I remember why I bought 2 of these and stashed one back in the day. I love this thing! It has 2 great clean settings as well as 2 distortion ones, the echo and chorus are a bit thin, but they add a nice dimension. When I got it back in the day I actually used it to do some recording and the results were pretty good all things considered.

I recorded through a Rockman once back in the ‘80s. Yes, a surprisingly good piece of gear.

I loved it, played the heck out of it, but it fizzled and I chunked it. Looks like they are getting over $300 on Reverb right now.

Dunlop Uni-Vibe Stereo Chorus. So many recent Hendrix versions, but this does the Jimi/Trower sound just fine

Those old Rockmans are really cool and pricy -- not quite Klon Centaur pricy, but still.

Not so much "recently" but in terms of my overall arc of gear, relatively so - couple years now.
I rediscovered the joy of the venerable Boss HM-2, not used as "everything dimed" Swedish chainsaw of modern affectation, but my original setting that I had written down in tracking notes I rediscovered after my move.
It, at ungodly volumes into a 6L6 Fender and Jazz Chorus, is everything I ever needed in high gain fun. Throw a MXR Blue Box after it, and it's Rowland S. Howard on meth instead of smack.

I pulled out the old Ernie Ball volume pedal from retirement (I quit gigging in 2012) recently when I got back into recording. Rolling the guitar's volume back works fine, but for punching in and out on a recording, a volume pedal makes more sense because it's easier to zoom on and off. (re: the Scholz Rockman X-100) I loved it, played the heck out of it, but it fizzled and I chunked it. I have two of these. The first one I bought in the mid 80s and recorded with it. It went intermittent so I cracked it open to troubleshoot it, and discovered the solder joints on the jacks had fatigued and a few had broken from the PC board. They are soldered directly to the PC board and through use they take some abuse and break. I reflowed the connections and it has worked fine ever since. I also took a vow to be very gentle with plugging in. The 2nd unit I saw about 10 years ago on fleabay as "broken/not working." The light bulb went off in my pea brain; It was $25, WITH the original 12v power supply, and nobody else had bid on it. When it arrived the power supply was fine but still no worky. I popped it open and the problem was the jack connections to the board. One minute of soldering and it was good as new.

That's how I got my first Tascam for a song - they didn't add any relief/stress to the power in jack, and it had come loose from the directly soldered to the board.
Bought a bunch of them from pawn shops with the same issue and would flip them to friends for a few buchs.

Despite being primarily a clean player I own a plethora of dirt pedals - Timmy, OCD, Drivetrain, Fulldrive, RAT, Crunchbox, Muff... Recently fired up my trusty BOSS OD-3, played a bit, then asked myself: "Why do I have all these when the OD-3 gives me pretty much all I want/need & sounds great?"

I have a MXR distortion + I haven't been using for years because it didn't sound good with my DRRI. I have a music room with most of my gear but I like to keep a guitar in my family room to pick up quickly when the urge to play arises. So I play a strat into a accoustasonic jr. which actually sounds pretty good. One day I wanted a little distortion so I plugged the MXR distortion + in and made some great sounds, although I don't go crazy with the volume I would hate to wreak the 8" speakers in it.

Original Marshall Guv'nor. Absolutely amazing with a Les Paul. Bought in 1990 and somehow ignored in favor of a TS10 Tube Screamer, it got stored away and not fired up again until last winter. GEEZ!!!

Don't know if this counts... TS808.
sold mine long ago
Just forgot about Ibanez Tube screamers in general. Stop using it and sold it long ago & can't remember when. Struggling with finding an overdrive sound that I like, non of my current pedals was working for me. Out of desperation bought a reissue. Blam! Tone quest complete. Does anyone want to buy some used boutique overdrive pedals?
