This Les Paul weighs 10.6 pounds on a digital bathroom scale, FWIW.
Thoughts?
I guess I should be more precise, it had a broken headstock that was repaired.

Kinda what I figured. I guess if it can hold the tension of the strings, 10 pounds isn't going to make much of a difference.

If anything, it's actually better to hang it because it helps offset the tension from the strings' pull.
The only danger of hanging a guitar by the headstock is damage to nitro finishes caused by the material the hanger is padded with. Most are fine. Some of the older ones were terrible and would melt the finish all the way to the wood.

I've officially move my newest Les Paul (the one with the repair) to the wall so it's easier to grab and play. (I was keeping it in the case)

I've officially move my newest Les Paul (the one with the repair) to the wall so it's easier to grab and play. (I was keeping it in the case) I feel it takes the strain off the neck by hanging on the wall. If I remove strings and need to leave them off while I do other stuff to the guitar or bass I hang it on the wall when taking a break so the neck stays in good shape and negates the need to loosen the truss rod. |
