have a bathroom remodel to finish, but hopefully in about 10 days I am placing an order for a firemist silver. Well, are you hitting the "Going to do it" button?

I was supposed to put down new floor (the last thing left) tonight but was roped into a 12.5 hour day. Perhaps a NBD is needed here?

I’ve never understood the “factory aged/distressed” thing. Why would I purchase an instrument with an imperfect finish? I don’t think I’d buy a car and tell the dealership to make it look like I’ve been driving it for ten years, running it on a race track, or dirt digging in the Mojave.
My bass guitars that have a worn finish got that way because I have played them, in a position that is comfortable to me, for many many gigs. My 55-94 Lakland I’ve owned (and played as the main bass) for twenty years and there is not a mark or flaw in its finish, and that bass was played 4-5 nights per week for many years.

Well, it landed today. I probably spent about 45 minutes on set up (changed the strings and adjusted the truss rod, which was...fun. Using 35-90 strings is nice, but requires a set-up for most basses I pick up) and then plugged it in. The sound was typical jazz bass, but I found I could dial in new sound combinations with the stacked knobs.
Unless you are going to build one, want a vintage, or plan to try stacked knobs some other way (this bass does not kill my GAS for a Lakland 44-60) this is a good place to start. The pau ferro fingerboard does not turn me off.

Never gotten this either but then again I didn't get my daughter paying more money for torn beat up jeans either. Maybe we are just getting old...uh come to think of it , didn't care for that 30 years ago.

I've got an old Pbass that looks like it went through the Boer War , and was pristine when I first bought it . But I really try not to ding them up . I've picked up most instruments used , there's been the odd signs of use , but they're all in pretty good shape , aside from my original Pbass . I have around five I've bought new . Never picked up a relic , but I've seen some that looked pretty good .

Congrats on the new bass matryx81! That one caught my eye too. If it had a maple board, well forget about it!

Woody, the firemist silver was the only finish that I found appealing. Had it been just 3-color sunburst and white or both of those plus black, I probably would have passed on it.
In fact, had it not been firemist silver I may have skipped this completely (I have a highway one body I was planning on painting firemist silver and I had plans to build a stack knob J, but this bass takes care of both of those. Now I will have a SCPB done up in fiesta red and probably have my highway one body done up in a dragon burst metallic finish like what Warmoth offers).
