I have been enjoying running two blues jr's together for a while now and running a Boss DD 500 utilizing the stereo feature to connect both amps. Now, I have the idea to build a pedal board specific to this amp combo. I have not decided on a pedal board yet although I will end up with one that will be slotted to run the patch and power cables neatly out of the way. I ordered a MXR DC Brick for the power which will be mounted on the underside of the pedal board and also ordered a Electro-Harmonix Triangle Big Muff Classic Dist/Sustain Pedal as I liked the tones I heard on Sweetwater's demo (what do you think of this pedal?)
I have a pedal board already that I put together some years ago and will try out some of those pedals with what I already mentioned. One is a tube screamer and the other is a Boss OC-3 Dual Super Octave. I'll be setting up the pedals with the DD 500 being first in the chain then, the Big Muff to begin with. The other pedals will be added later as I want to try out the Big Muff with the DD 500 and it's different fx. This amp combo and pedal arrangement is a custom build of sorts I'm putting together hoping to get the kind of tones for kind of music I like to play now a days. Kind of a Gilmore - Satriani - Ritenour - Hendrix vibe. Smooth and melodic. Nothing harsh and so, I'm building this rig along those lines. Any critiques or suggestions are welcome.

The pedal you want last in the chain should have a stereo L/R out, such as a delay/reverb pedal or a Leslie-style rotary thing like the Ventilator II.
That will maximize the sonic utility of playing through two amps.
Unless, of course, you're stacking one amp atop the other.

That will maximize the sonic utility of playing through two amps. Unless, of course, you're stacking one amp atop the other. I may be explaining wrong as to the order of the pedals so, in order to get on the same page, I'll just say that at present, the only pedal I have connected to this amp arrangement is the DD 500 which is a delay pedal (in stereo) with many types of delays and other fx built in. All other pedals would come after or through the DD 500 and then, to the amps. How I arrange those in the chain will be a work in progress. Since I'll be getting the Big Muff Classic this week, I will put that right after the DD 500. As it is, I am using a sort of template to design this board as I have a 'stair stepper' step with a surface area almost the exact size I want for the pedal board. I have a pedal board in mind like the one linked that will probably fit the bill. The others mentioned in this thread are interesting and thanks for stepping up with those selections but, I'm looking to build one that's smaller than the last one I built and I keep coming back to the one linked with nothing extra attached to it like a power supply which I mentioned earlier, is on order. When I have the 'set up' figured out, I'll spring for a pedal board but, that depends on what other pedals I want as part of this project. I'm fairly certain the addition of the OC3 will be a natural fit in this process. A switchboard might be something to think about as well to connect all the pedals for easy...switching. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PTCL2SC--pedaltrain-classic-2-sc-24-inch-by-12.5-inch-pedalboard-with-soft-case

Thanks. I think that pedal board may fit the bill at present. I've looked at some switchboards and they are not cheap so, if I do add one, it'll be the last thing I get so I'll have enough connections to satisfy the pedal selections. They are not cheap. I have brought out my Boss ME 70 and set it up with the two blues jr's to get more ideas for pedal selection. I can tell right away that a uni-vibe pedal is in my future. I've been doing some research for ideas as well looking at pedal boards done up to mimic some of the artist I've chosen for this venture. I'm happy to see that some of the selections they suggest I have or is ordered so, it would seem I have a good start for this custom rig.

Spot on running two Bjr in a wet dry scenario. Seen it done years ago by a savvy guitarist with killer chops. I've been meaning to get another Bjr myself to do the same.

Here's the beginning of my build. The surface area I'm using is the size of the board I want to use for this so, I have plenty of room to add more pedals going forward. The current configuration in the pic seems to work fairly well. When I add more pedals, I'll probably start off by connecting the next one after the OC3, pushing the tube screamer and the Big Muff down the line. The TS and Big Muff seem to work well being together as seen. The Big Muff by itself, has a tendency to push the volume loud when used but, the TS has the ability to knock that loudness down when it's used with the Big Muff so, they'll remain together as seen no matter where the are in the chain for now. The next pedal I get for this project will probably be a uni-vibe. Either a MXR or a JHS Unicorn. It's looking like the pedal board I have in mind for this is going to be good enough as it looks like this configuration has plenty of room for future pedals.

Just an update on my build here. I've been testing out this combo for a while before I add more pedals and I have to say this is going well. I really like this combination of amps and pedals so far. I'm working with the Torpedo Captor X for it's 'attenuator' function which is currently hooked up to the black BJ. Soon, I'll see if I can't also hook it up the the tweed BJ to see if I can run both through the Captor X. I'll have mod the tweed to do this adding a jack input to the rear as I did with the black BJ. I think if I can make this work, this is going to be killer. I'm still formulating pedal additions but, as I said, this is working out well so far. The quest continues...

Even though I didn't use it often, it was my favorite effect on that pedal, and what I miss the most about it. A very good Univibe is the Fulltone MDV or MDV-2. Great Univibe sound and the speed is adjustable on the MDV-2 by rocking the foot pedal. The MDV-2 is about the size of the average wah pedal. According to Fulltone, the sound in these two is identical, so it just depends if you need easily adjustable speed control. They're not that easy to find any more though.

Sorry it took so long to respond to my own thread but, I've had some 'life' distractions lately... I do value the input and suggestions about other gear that would be great additions to what I'm doing. I like the ME 70 for a lot of it's settings but, it's too big for what I'm doing and I've pretty much decided on the MXR M68 for a uni-vibe although I'll be reviewing it again to be sure. This is my 'mad scientist' moment in my musical quest and I'm taking my time to put the best pedalboard together that I can. That being said, I've come across the Boss RC5 looper. Many of you may have the previous versions of this pedal and this one of the latest. I just received this the other day and I'm really enjoying the ease of use of this pedal. I have two others including, the one incorporated in the DD 500 but, the RC5 is so much easier to use. As you can see, I've put the RC5 after(?) the DD 500 so the 'metronome' feature is clean and avoids any fx from the other pedals. Another pedal I'm considering is a EQ pedal. My number one choice at the moment is the Boss (a lot of Boss pedals I'm picking here ) EQ-200 but, I'm thinking that maybe it might be a bit of overkill as far as features go but, then again, you can never have too many features when it comes to this stuff, IMO . So, what to you all think of the RC5 and the EQ-200 or what would you choose?

One of the things I've been trying to do is to connect this Captor X to both amps to be able to Attenuate both and be able to use the amps full potential at low volume levels. So far, I haven't been able to accomplish this but, I'll keep trying. It would have been nice to have a Captor X designed to accommodate two amps and in the future, maybe that will happen. But, my main reason for this post was to point out that the Captor X doesn't need to be plugged in to use the attenuator portion of this unit as the switch, on its own, works to attenuate. If this is known by you then, you can welcome me to planet earth as it was as bit of a surprise to me that it would function this way. Just wanted to provide some discovery while I continue to build this rig.

Look what came to me today from FedEx! Now, I can start to build the pedal board the blues jr rig. More pics to follow when I've got the right set up.

I can fix that, Peegoo. Just add water. In the mean time, I've loaded my pedals on this Pedaltrain and here it is so far. I was hoping I could line these pedals up like this so I'd have room for a pedal or two more and maybe a control console of some kind. This project is moving along nicely so far. Oh, by the way, I also got a new pedal I'd been thinking about. The MXR Uni-Vibe. Came in yesterday.
