I recently picked up one from 2012. Cool guitar, one I've always wanted. Love the way it feels when I'm standing despite the extra couple inches of reach that are necessary.
Anyway, the guitar needed some TLC in the set-up department and while doing that I found that the scale length is 24 1/2". Weird. I sent pics off to Gibson just to make sure it's not some elaborate fake. (It would have to be a very good one; still has that nitro lacquer smell and came with the factory check-list, etc.) So, assuming it may be a while before I hear back from them I'm wondering if anyone else has one and if the scale length is something other than 24 3/4".
Love the Steinberger tuners...

I've got nothing to add, but I ran across this a couple days ago.
If you like Five Watt World, and Firebirds, this is a good watch.

I know, it's almost bass-sized.

Dont know about the scale lenth but i played and owned a very early one serial number dated to 62 for about 25 years and got it autographed by Johnny Winter. I traded it a few years back for a 57 Strat

Hmm,I'm sure the strat is worth more but I'd rather have the Gibson.

My bandmate in my first ever band bought himself a brand new 1976 Bi Centennial Firebird back when they were first released. We were both still teenagers at the time, and he bought it on finance. I can’t remember how much it was, but I’m guessing about £500 - £600 back in 1977.
It was his #1 guitar (obviously) and I got to play it a couple of times. I remember I found it quite hard to get used to the banjo tuners, neck playing position and weight distribution, but there’s no denying it was a nice guitar. I had a Flying V at the time.
Unfortunately he couldn’t keep up the payments so he reluctantly had to sell it, but he kept the serial number in case he ever came across it for sale again. I ‘ve checked eb*y and it looks like they go for $2,500 - $3,000 now ☹

I have the Gibson Custom Shop Johnny Winter 1963 V that's Murphy Aged. From inside the nut to the front of the ABR bridge is 24.5" and about 24.75 to the center of the bridge. Not sure where you measure exact scale length at. I like to pick close to the bridge and it sounds like a Gibson "Tele". When I first got it, I thought it a little awkward, but when I changed from the shoulder strap lock button to the button on the center of the neck it balanced out way better for me. It's a big guitar, I guess you could call it a manly guitar and has its own vibe. Not a LP, not a strat. The neck is closer to an SG and plays like butter, it's one of my go to guitars.

Wish I had one. Big Johnny Winter fan...documentary on Amazon is really good, and a little sad. Saw Govt Mule a few years back and Warren sounded best on a Firebird.

You measure scale length from the nut to the center of the twelfth fret and multiplying by two. Yep, it's a bigger guitar and not like any other. Mine is very resonant and just feels so nice to play. It has only the smallest bit of neck-dive when sitting which is virtually nonexistent when using a strap. Feels lighter than my Les Paul which is a bit over eight pounds I think. I'm in the process of buying a friend's vinyl collection and got five of Johnny's early albums recently. Haven't gotten through them all yet but he's a player I've always admired.
