We've been hearing "wash your hands often" almost all year.
My wife got the bright idea to replace the liquid hand soap in the bathrooms with antibacterial (yeah, I know) dishwasher detergent.
My hands are now cracked and peeling like they do when the weather is cold. I realized it was from the dishwasher detergent on the hands. So we have bought real hand soap for the liquid dispensers.
Lesson--do not use dishwasher detergent to wash the hands. It will tear them up.
Have you learned anything from All This that you did not already know?

I learned that all this time, I've been washing my hands as has been suggested, for as long as I can remember...with Dawn. I also learned that people will heed to the the recommendations of our health officials to combat this virus. I also learned how easily something like this could be turned against us.

Please remember no politics/hot buttons, thanks folks. Well, in that case let me just say that I learned that what I already knew was correct...sadly.

I learned that I already did most of the recommendations - wash hands, avoid touching face, stay away when sick.
I also learned that the unwashed masses are no joke.

I've learned that I can freeze milk, then thaw it out and drink it later. I freeze it in silicone cupcake pans. The "Cubes" are a good size to thaw out one cupful at a time. Beats having it go bad in the fridge and I will always have milk on hand when store shelves are cleaned out during the next pandemic.
Oh, and I still use old fashioned bar soap to wash my hands. Get some O'Keeffe's cream to heal your Dawn injured hands, it's good stuff.

What I've learned.
1. Follow public health guidance.
2. When in doubt, stay home.
So far, it's worked perfectly.

Hey, Taildragger, I forgot about Madge. And we have Palmolive. Either Madge lied, or Palmolive has changed their formulation. Maybe got a new vendor. Or have factories in different locations than where they used to be (if that's not too hotbutton). It tore up my hands, which cleared up after I switched to bath soap.

Get some O'Keeffe's cream to heal your Dawn injured hands, it's good stuff. I've been using Crabtree and Evelyn's Gardener's moisturizing hand cream. In fact, I have used it for years, since my hands crack and bleed every year when it gets cold, and it works well. It didn't work as well this year. It was a little disconcerting for the hands to crack and bleed during reasonable warm weather. My wife let me use her prescription steroid cream. It worked better than the Crabtree and Evelyn cream. But using bar bath soap worked best of all.

Pish posh, I use brake clean to clean my hands. If I run out, I use Carb cleaner. Dawn at the end of the day.
Dishwasher soap to me is Cascade.

If the NASA scientists have been paying attention, they've had an undreamt of bonanza: no need for expensive psychological testing for that long Mars mission. They can sift through hundreds of millions of Americans to see which ones have excelled at being confined for an extended period. Of course, with that handpicked crew aboard, those of us left behind may have to endure months of Tik Tok videos sent from the red planet.
