Nice photo shots De Ville! All are very good but I typically find myself drawn to black and whites of people with character and shadows of contrast. Great shot!

Ah, no, probably not, but I'm not eating the fish from the Mariners Grill. I figured it out though. I went to a satellite view.
Ugh, clicked on your link and it comes up with a "map" of my area

I'll try to post this full size later on when I can access flickr (I'm on my work computer and it's blocked), but me and a buddy of mine were invited to the Gunnery Range at Ft. Riley to snap some photos of Abrams tank qualifications, and we got some pretty good shots:) Attachments:

I took this iPhone pic this morning through a window in our living room. An Eastern Towhee, a male and female cardinal, and a finch caught in mid flight, that looks like it's sitting on an invisible wire. Bill, that's like magic. Bird sitting in mid air. How do they do that.

Great moon shots! We had a rare snow here today and saw this little guy looking for breakfast. Piliated woodpecker, not exactly rare but not a bird you see every day either.

Great shot, and how lucky having the snow for contrast! That white background helps the bird stand out from the background. I've tried to photograph them when I'm in California, but they never stay in one spot long enough for me to grab the camera. I've tried!
I have captured a couple Wood Pecker photos around here in Washington, but they're a different type of Wood Pecker. The two shots I have are fine for documenting, but not great compositions.

Nikkormat with pricetag by john fisher, on Flickr I found this at a local antique joint for $10. It is identical to my worn out old Nikkormat that I got in 1970, but it's in nearly new condition. The only problem is the light meter doesn't work, but I can work around that. Mine was brushed silver; this one is black. I always kind of wished I'd gotten one in black anyways. :-) The tag says "Vintage Camera (no lens - decor only)", LOL. I have four Nikkor lenses from that era. I will shoot a roll through it in the near future.

That's cool. My interest in photography came after digital had been out a while. I've never really shot film other than Polaroids, and those disposable cameras that were out for a while.
I've felt a few tugs to try film, but haven't gone for it. It would be cool to see what you do.
I actually have two 35mm SLR cameras. I purchased them as I wanted the 50mm pancake lens that accompanied them. One is a N90s, and the other is a N65. Both Nikon.

I think the "decor only" clarification can also be interpreted as:
"Challenge accepted."

That woodpecker image is very nice.
I saw you folks had snow, over there. It’s just cold in VA.

That woodpecker image is very nice. I saw you folks had snow, over there. It’s just cold in VA. Thank you. So yesterday I actually woke up fairly early because it looked like there would be snow and ended up driving up onto the plateau and going to one of my favorite photog hikes. Almost no snow. This morning had no idea there would be snow, woke up to 4 inches outside, still snowing. Problem was I'd already burned my "photography hiking day" with the wife from the day before and had to shorten the excursion. Probably a good thing because the roads were terrible. We rarely get snow but every road out has at least 2 hairpin corners with lots of short but steep elevation changes, and no snow treatment. So when it snows with road accumulation the layers tend to be: asphalt -> ice -> snow -> no traction. Passed a Tahoe in the ditch and a lifted GMC 2500HD w/ 35s backing precariously down a hill on the short 3 mile drive to get to the closest woodland/hiking area. This shot was from my failed snow-tography hike yesterday, would love to go back with 2-4 inches.

Great osprey pics. It's so hard to get in-flight pics nicely framed.
Awesome lens also. That's a real downside of the Fuji system, no true wildlife quality telephoto zoom. I have the cheapo 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 and it can take sharp pics with ok bokeh at zoom but is no where near 500mm f/5.6..

Thanks guys. I was extremely excited to get those.
Fuji makes some top notch gear. Hopefully they will come out with something like the Nikon 200-500. I know Fuji guys that have been asking for it. From what I understand, it's quite expensive to develop lenses like that. Nikon has been doing it for a long time.
It's unbelievable how inexpensive that lens is. Some say it was strategically priced as a loss leader. I saw a used minty one on Craig's once for 900.00. I think mine was about 1400.00 when I got it, but I think they dropped the price 100.00 since. It's a heavy sucker, but I don't care.
I was on rapid fire when I took the Osprey shots. These were a couple of my favorites. I think I have a straight on shot I'll look for. One of those instances, the Osprey swooped down, grabbed the fish, and then flew straight towards me getting closer and closer. I couldn't believe it. Then when it got about probably 100 feet from me it veered to my left.
I was thankful for the huge buffer of the D500 in that instance. With that crop sensor, it's like a 350mm-750mm.
Here's that straight on shot. Not a great composition probably, but it's an interesting angle anyways. And here is a less cropped version of the close up with the wing tips not cut off.
