I haven't been shooting much lately. I'm primarily a film shooter and I have some exposed rolls of b&w, but my local photo supply shop is closed until late april and I can't buy developing chemicals:(

So I was super bummed to hear TN go on "shelter in place" yesterday, meaning state and natural areas are closed. I get it but it still sucks since the places I hike around here are usually deserted. Luckily spent my last two days off on two local hikes. This is maybe my favorite time of year since the new leaves offer color and there are water features everywhere. Hike a few hundred yards off trail and got poison ivy for this shot.

This is a hundred yards or so down trail on the same feeder creek.

Another little chill spot off trail on the other hike. Luckily all the TWRA lands are open and turkey season starts tomorrow. I'm not very good at turkey hunting lol but there are a bunch of WMAs close by and the lake is walking distance so will say goodbye to most of the hiking spots for a while and do some hunting/fishing in the meantime.

Very nice! I love that effect with the water. I need to do some more of those. They're fun to take too.

Went hiking yesterday and brought a lens I haven't used in a while; Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 from the '70s. Kind of challenging for landscapes due to the focal length (~80mm adapted) but have always enjoyed this lens close up. Lady Fern Rhododendron

Thanks for posting.
I’m just starting to think about carrying a camera around again. I have a present day full-frame Nikon 50 f1.4 (Yeah, no character).
The Fern photograph has got me thinking about using it for non-portraiture/Street purposes.
Thanks again for posting.

Nice images, Fly!
I’ve got the modern equivalent of that Canon lens. It has always produced my best images. I need to take it out.

Serous question. If you click on the photo above, you will see two of the same photo by then clicking on photostream. Which one do you think has the correct saturation?
Here's the reason I ask. All monitors, and TV's setting are different, and when I'm editing photos, they always look way better on my TV which is where I edit them. After I upload them to Flickr, and look at them on my desktop monitor, they look way less saturated, and sometimes dull.
Which one looks more saturated to you, and which one appears to have the proper saturation assuming one of them does, for you.

Great water exposure. I liked the saturation on the first one best. 10s @ 370mm must have a block of marble for a tripod lol.

So ..... where do you host pics to post here?

question; how do you get your photos to fill the page while being under the upload limit? I resized mine to under 1M and they're all tiny.. Mike, this video worked perfect for me.
Jimmy, you can use different hosting sites. I use flickr. Here is the video above on how to embed. One way, anyways. The only way that worked for me. I know it can be done other ways, as IIRC, Peegoo, does it differently.
Leftee, FlyonNylon, thank you for the feedback. At flickr, the photo on the left is the one I went back and edited a second time, and added more saturation. The photo on the right, the only thing I did was level the horizon a tiny bit.

Normally I do weigh down my tripod, for long exposures, but it was dead calm, and my camera and lens are mounted from the lens foot, so it's pretty balanced. Also used mup mode, and a wireless shutter release.
If it's dead calm, all I have to do is not bump the tripod, or vibrate the ground near the rig. I do need a better tripod though, and I want a geared 3 axis head.

This was from a trip to Charleston last year. Was out biking so no tripod but managed to set the camera just right with some twigs to get the composition. That works at 18mm but definitely not 370..

Very nice! Love it how in long exposures, the reflections on the water are amplified. In your photo, I like the cloud reflections. Excellent photo! Nice improvisation, too!
