According to Reverb, I could be sitting on 9 grand worth of vintage amplifiers. I haven't checked my guitars to see if they are insanely priced as well. Anyone have a guess what the market says vs Reverb?

Reverb compiles data by actual sales on the site so it could be so. Of course, actual results may vary.

Obviously the parties determine the market but on balance, yes, I think it is in the range. I bought a '66 Pro Reverb on the site and it was close to what I was finding at GC or Ebay.

I’ve sold a bunch of gear (for little ole me) on the Verb in the last month to pay for a rare vintage amp. Prices are generally in line with the market. No Mr. seller you won’t get $3500 for that Vibrolux Reverb or Brown Super but you can expect $2000 to $2500 tops and your 5E3 will probably fetch that $3500 if you want to sell it.
My cunning plan to decrease the amount of gear I own while maintaining investment value seems to be working.

I honestly think Reverb is just as good as eBay or any other site for determining instrument values. I don't know which site sells more musical instruments; eBay could still be ahead just because it's been around much longer. I would rather deal with Reverb, and usually do.

Oh yeah eBay is a last resort for me now. I much prefer Reverb. It seems like I can list ten items on Reverb in the time it takes for me to list one on eBay and the fees are lower which really makes a difference on the higher dollar listings.

CL is your friend.
I buy and sell gear off my local CL and have never had a problem. Key here is I sell LOCAL ONLY. I will not ship a guitar for any reason.
And... it's free!
