No Springsteen. No dead. No Kinks. Although I do have the latter two on a various artists collection called The Big Ball. $2 in 1971. Anybody else have that album. 2-record set.

Well except for Rush, I have lots of Rush, I love 'em. Fellow guitar players would be surprised to learn that I don't own any Jeff Beck (never got into his sproingy boingy super whammy style) And I don't own any Clapner (never got into Slowhand, he's too slow, I'd rather listen to Paul Gilbert!)

From the rock/pop division: No Rush, Moody Blues and BOC. No Clapner, preferring Jeff Beck. No Beatles, preferring the Byrds. No Led Zeppelin, preferring Free ever since. No Springsteen (except Nebraska) but Mellencamp. But I love the song Point Blank. 😎

I LOVE early Beatles music (Please Please Me, etc.) but I don't have any Beatles CDs. I had several albums long ago, but they disappeared over the years. when I want to hear those songs, I listen on YouTube. I really should buy some Beatles CDs... if those early albums are available on CD.

Fellow guitar players would be surprised to learn that I don't own any Jeff Beck (never got into his sproingy boingy super whammy style) Same here. Also, I have no interest in guitarists who are famous for their "fretboard acrobatics" and shredding. Vai, Satch, Malmsteem and so on... none of those guys do anything for me. Sure, it's amazing what they can do on guitar, but it doesn't affect me emotionally. Actually, I don't care much for instrumental music at all, and that includes Surf music. I love the Beach Boys, but I can only tolerate a song or two at most of instrumental Surf music. The reason is probably because I've been writing poetry and song lyrics ever since the 6th grade (but not recently). For me, lyrics are a very important part of a song.

So far, I've got something in the collection from all the artists mentioned -- except Vai, Satch, Malmsteem but I don't consider them iconic. I don't have any Kiss, CCR, Guns N' Roses, or anything by McCartney post Beatles.
And they aren't missing -- I just didn't buy them.

Yeah, only talking earlier rock. No prog rock and no 80s aor or any of the speedy guitar slingers. With a disgust for guitar solos or other. Except Stevie's. Jeff Beck pre-whammy-bar. Later not so much. And also not missing what I didn't buy then, for a reason. 🙂

No Rush here. Great individual musicians and I liked some of their tunes, but to buy the albums back in the day, they weren’t totally my cup of tea.
Also - no Dead in the collection.

Springsteen Kiss Sabbath The Who Kinks AC/DC GnR
Just to add, I wouldn't classify Jeff Beck with Vai, Satriani et al. He's not a shredder. He's just a great guitarist who doesn't sing, so releases mainly instrumental albums. I'd put him closer to Carlton, Larry Coryell and Jimmy Page I love him. ;-)

No AC/DC, ZZ Top, Zeppelin, Rush, Black Sabbath... But I bet I have the best Joseph Spence collection on the block.
Warner/Reprise put out a bunch of sampler albums called "Loss Leaders" around then, usually $2 for a double LP. The only one I had was Zappéd on tape.

With Spotify and YouTube, none. I like about every artist mentioned so far. If you mean physical music collection, about the only artists I have a decent discography of are Hendrix, SRV, JS Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

I'm not missing any "iconic" artists. If I don't like them I don't consider them iconic no matter what everyone else thinks.

I'm pretty sure I have at least one release from every iconic rock artist/group from the golden era of 1960's/70's. 1980's not so much so.

No Kiss, Neil Young, solo stuff by former Beatles except George, or Rush. I agree with Sharkie that the members of Rush are great musicians, but Geddy's voice is a taste I didn't acquire. Not a big fan of The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Elton John, and Queen, but I have something by all of them.
