Yum. About the only spicy food I can eat without consequences.
Any fans?

Yep, love me some pad Thai.
Also like hot Indian/Himalayan food: chicken vindaloo...oh yeah!
And Mexican as well (goes without saying). Pretty hard to not develop a taste for that after decades of living in CA.

As soon as I saw that thread title I blurted out loud, “ooooh I want Thai food”.
There are several good places around here. I have no idea if this is super Americanized, but our usual order is vegetable Pad See Ew and chicken Panang Curry. Dang I want that so hard right now. Sometimes I get an appetizer of ‘Curry Puffs’ which are some kind of flaky puff pastry filled with curried meat and potatoes. We’ve got too many leftovers at the moment though. It seems after eating more traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, the next thing I want is Asian food (or pizza).

My wife had the Pad Se Ewe, I had the "Basil Seafood". Leftovers for tomorrow, toss in some more shrimp. Yum.

Love it all. Fresh spring rolls with dipping sauce and a Thai iced tea is my idea of a perfect small meal.
But then I never walk away after that, because it's usually followed by a plate of basil chicken or a spicy noodle dish.

There used to be a thai place in Milwaukee that was fabulous (The King and I). Any entree on their menu could be ordered at your choice of 4 different heat levels. I would order the 3rd level (adventurous). Level 4 was native Thai which I had ONCE!
Now I want Volcano Chicken.

Any Thai curry is a winner! For maximum spicy, you have to go to a place consistently until they know you can take the heat. Then ask for Thai hot and hold on to your hat!

I like it, but am unaware of a good Thai restaurant near our current location. Ditto for Vietnamese and Japanese.

Yessir! Big fan of Thai, Szechuan, Hunan, Mexican. Most spicy stuff. I add hot pepper flakes/sauce to Italian food too. Everything else is bland, in comparison.

you have to go to a place consistently until they know you can take the heat. That is so true; most places will not spice up a dish until they know a round-eyed gringo can really handle it. They don't want you to have a bad experience in their joint. "Why don't you like the Thai Delight place?" "I left the roof of my mouth in the restroom sink the first time we ate there."

Spent a year in Thailand early '70s in Uncle Sams Air Plane club. Learned to love the food. My current favorite is Pad Kee Mao with pork medium hot. Second favorite is shrimp fried rice with plenty of crying tiger sauce.

I'm all about some spring roles and dipping sauce. That, and a plate of pad Thai.
I'll make Pad Thai at home sometimes. It's not hard to make.

I had some Thai food at an authentic Thai restaurant in Vancouver. There wasn’t anything on the menu that was like the local Thai takeout places here; in fact I didn’t really recognize anything. With a few suggestions we had a meal at what would be their “regular” heat setting. It was hot 🔥 Delicious too.
Quite a contrast from liver and onions. 😁

My first post in this forum...I was a long time member on the old FDP...left there a few years ago. Ok, back to the subject. I absolutely love Thai food...Yum Talay (seafood salad) is my favorite, albeit I love all the curries as well. Thai hot please with a side of rice to dab up any left over dressing with...and bring me a hot plate with fresh Thai chilis.

Pahd Kee-Mow...Pahd Ka-Pow...skewered Chicken Satay: YUM!
And yeah, Peegoo: one of my favorite Thai restaurants offers pot-sticker/gyoza-type dumplings as well: a must with every order!

Only trouble with some Thai restaurants is they think that they have to put coconut in every dish. It's fine in when it's in some things, but gets monotonous when they put it in everything.
