I always try to buy quality tools, MIA whenever possible, but it's getting less and less possible by the day.
Case in point: I was recently shopping for a nice concrete edging tool. Most of my other concrete finishing tools are Marshall Town brand and MIA. All of the Marshall Town tools at my local hardware store are also MIA, but they didn't stock the specific tool I was seeking, so I ordered online. It arrived the other day and (you guessed it): "Made in China" and no, it wasn't "less expensive". Bummed me out as much as when Milwaukee moved their power tool production over there.
Even when you look for American-made stuff online, it's often impossible to determine where an item was made from the listing. Many of the PICs can't be enlarged enough to see the country of origin label or there just isn't one and the ad copy doesn't specify. Then there's the old "assembled in USA with internationally-sourced materials" dodge.
Oh well...

I think that's what happened with the Palmolive Dishwashing Detergent. Madge was probably telling the truth at the time.

Hey, a little sympathy here. The Chinese people have had to put with "Made in China" all their lives. From their point of view:
Of course it doesn't fit. Of course it burned out in one day. Of course the shoes are a half size off. Of course it poisoned the kids.
And yet, they were able to bring a box of rocks back from the moon. Bet the scientists had their fingers crossed on that project!
