I've lived near the Pacific Ocean most of my life and have surfed since I was 11 or 12 years old. Body surfed, skim boarded and belly boarded before that.
I've seen some oddball, refracted wave action, most of which was either at the Newport Wedge or Sandspit in Santa Barbara, two spots that are known for this. But this pretty much tops 'em both as far as being "out of the ordinary":

Well...maybe it doesn't quite top Sandspit:

Fascinating stuff!
In that first video that weird wave action appears to be caused by constructive interference, which is what makes light from the sun appear the way it does in the Double-slit Experiment.

Slow day at the TD residence? Sometimes this COVID "sheltering" makes me think back to my youth during the duck-and-cover 1950s, when I would occasionally daydream/wonder: "what would it be like to have to live in a fallout shelter"?
Not that we actually had one.
I mean...who needs a fallout shelter when you're totally safe curled up in a ball under your school desk?

Keep in mind that when the offshore wind is this strong, in addition to needing skill, experience, judgement and courage, you need the ability to "ride blind" at times as the water droplets picked up off the wave face by the wind hit your face like a fire hose:
