I’ve usually used Levy’s and Franklin leather straps in the past, but it’s been a while I’ve bought one. Usually I like 3 inch leather . Went to GC to check some out for my new purchase. Wow .... 55 bucks to start ! Decided to hold off . Went to Amazon and found these nice leather padded 3 inch ones for 30 bucks from this company called Walker and Williams. Better quality than either Levy or Franklin.Love my new straps and will probably get more business from me. Anyone heard of them? walkerandwilliams.com/

Wow, they look every bit as nice as the more common ones at a much better price. Good find!

The quality of the leather and stitching is really top notch. They are on Amazon too so free shipping for prime members.

Some of the Walker and Williams...my experience with their earlier stuff from about five years ago...was described as leather, but turned out to be bonded or "PU leather" (pleather). I sent the stuff back. Perhaps they've upped their game.

Fortunately I never have to fight that battle. Just grab something off the rack if I need it. DSC_2225 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr There are another six or seven on guitars around the room. I do keep thinking I need to make a couple more. I had a polka-dot one in particular went someplace years ago and I keep thinking I need to replace it. All bonified cow hide and pig skin.

One of my favorite straps is a bison strap from Lakota Straps. Softest leather I’ve ever had. Pricey though.

They are some beautiful straps. I would need a 59-61” strap for bass but those are great for my guitars.

In using my new strap n my broadcaster since I got it, it is extremely comfortable. I wished I would have found it sooner. I probably wouldn’t have had to blow thru so many Les Pauls . My only complaint is it’s slippery , but that could be remedied pretty easy.

This is literally nothing more than a scrap of soft latigo (all latigo is soft) I picked out of a bin at Tandy Leather. I trimmed it to size and shape and punched some holes in the end to accommodate my strap locks. The nature of latigo requires no coloring or finishing at all. It's 4" wide for this big heavy G5 bass and cost me maybe five to seven dollars. DSC_2452 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr

If you have a favorite strap that's too short or see one online you like that's not long enough, there's a thing called a strap extender. It's made like the typical 'lollipop' type strap tail but it's lonnnnng; available in a range of colors from several suppliers on Amazon and fleabay. Looky: www.amazon.com/s?k=guitar+strap+extender&ref=nb_sb_noss_2I have a few Larry Madsen custom straps; I can attest to the super high quality of these. They're handmade from nature's original hamburger wrapper Here's one.

I bought one about 10 years ago; it was a Levy's brand (made in Canaderp, IIRC).
Pay close attention to the length of these before you buy, because they're not a standard item...they're different lengths.

For all the guitars I've got you would think I'd have a lot of straps. Nope. Main one is a black, tooled, 3.5" one I had custom made 40+ years ago. Still going strong.

Holy crap, those Italia straps are pricey. Even at half off they are more than I paid for my Lakota . That can add up fast with 8 guitars. Nice product though.
