I see that it didn't take 2021 too long to start winnowing away at celebrities

Sad to say I just saw this on the BBC.
Gerry and the Pacemakers' first three singles were #1 in the UK charts, and their version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" is iconic.

I just saw that pop up on my phone a couple of minutes ago.
And I was thinking about him just last night while reading the guitar strap thread a viewing the link. One of the straps didn't have much slack, meaning that the guitar would be held high on the chest. That's how Gerry Marsden held his guitar. Just the opposite of punk-style.
Only January 3rd, and we've already lost one of parts of the "soundtrack of my youth".

He performed in our area in central Ontario about 25 years ago. It was a very enjoyable show. He had a great rapport with the audience, relating lots of anecdotes about the old years and, of course, playing those songs that we loved.
RIP Gerry.

Well, damn. "Ferry Cross the Mersey" has been a favorite of mine for decades.
RIP Gerry.

I hear it was a heart thing. I guess Gerry needed a pacemaker. Ok, I am sorry. RIP Gerry.

This song seems to be kind of overlooked, but is my favorite from Gerry, and written by him.
Rockin' 12-string! Thanks Gerry.
