In my simplicity I've always opened up another Strat and followed my previous visual. This time I tried this diagram and got nothing but foolishness. I don't have the neck yet but plugging it in and did the screwdriver tap test. The volume doesn't turn down, seems to act as a tone on the neck middle and pickups. The only thing I did not pictured is ground to trem claw. Any ideas? Triple checked all my connections. Gah!

Doh! Look at that little black line from the back of the volume pot to the 1st tone pot. Oopsie. 🤡

Usually if the volume doesn’t turn all the way down to no output, it’s a missing ground on the volume pot. The one from the outside leg.

Ok, now I'm getting: Normal function on neck pickup with both volume and tone (replaced volume pot). Normal volume function on middle pickup but tone on that pickup only works from 2nd tone pot. Normal volume function on bridge pickup but no tone control from either pot.
I tried new tone pot and cap, no diff.
I'm switching to bourbon for the night.

Boooo on the first wiring diagram. I switch to this and have liftoff. I should have known something was funky without the jumper between B3 & B2

Excellent!
When troubleshooting a switch you can always watch the wipers and see what it is actually doing as it moves back and forth. Unless it is an obnoxious box switch.
