What with the COVID still in control I was guessing it may not be the right time to sell off my gear. I don't use much of it anymore since gigging for me stopped decades ago.
I need to evaluate the gear and set pricing so I'll need to do some research. Is there a decent equivalent for the used car guides which I could use to set pricing?

Check reverb and ebay both have sold transaction pricing.

I didn't think now was a good time because there's so many folks scraping by but apparently the guitar related gear market is very strong as more people have spare time on their hands. I sold a high end guitar last week and did better than I was expecting.

You wouldn't think so during a pandemic, but the housing market is going crazy, and they're not the only thing. I've sold a lot of gear on Reverb lately, some items sold in just one day, and I highly recommend checking there for prices of equipment.

Yup, although the pandemic has affected the finances of many, there are still a lot of people spending a lot of money.

Interesting takes on the pandemic. I know RVs are hot items along with others. Thanks!

I think this could be one of those scenarios where you apply the "Opposite George" approach.
Go buy yourself a new guitar. 😄

Craigslist is your friend once you decide on your pricing.
I've sold a lot of gear on my local CL over the past two years.

I was surprised by this: (I would link to the article but it is subscriber only) The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had an article last week about increased sales of guitars and keyboards during the pandemic. They talked to Cream City Music and found out that 2020 is going to be their best year with revenue up at least 50%. But it seems that the entry and mid level equipment is where the sales were as other area shops featuring higher end instruments and equipment were not doing as well. Thought I would just pass this along as I thought that, in general, times would be tough for the music business these days.

I'm never gonna gig anymore, and have too much vintage stuff to leave rotting in the basement. Good idea!

As I mentioned in another thread, I did very well before Christmas selling ~ $10k of gear to finance a vintage amp purchase. I'm keeping tabs on pricing to see if I can just keep on going with a goal of reducing the herd to ten guitars and five or so amplifiers.

I've been selling some Gibsons off and I've got decent prices on E Bay but far from top dollar, a custom shop double neck in as new condition, ES 175, ES 135 so far. I backed off during Christmas but I'm going to start selling again soon. I'll report back on prices.
