I did a bridge pickup swap in this new (to me) Jackson wing-wang guitar and, while I was in it, I wired it ‘50s style.

Sounds like a good idea to me, and may help avoid the need for a treble bleed (which I've never cared for).

I like it better than the volume pot treble bleed setup.

I ended up spending all day this guitar, yesterday. It started as a bridge pickup swap. These came with a JB in the bridge... and I’m not a huge fan. Just a little too hot for me. I went with a SD Blues Saraceno Parallel Axis.
The previous owner must have caustic sweat because every screw on the guitar was roached. No worries, I have plenty of black screws.
The electronics worked fine, but I swapped them all out, given the state of the screws. Also, the guitar was wired lefty with righty pots. That’s a bit unusual with a MIJ guitar. They usually know better.
Since the strings were off I dressed the frets. I also disassembled the Floyd and cleaned/lubed it.
She’s super-sweet now. 😎

Weird. I can't see a pic or link. 🤔 That’s not so weird, really. Turns out I haven’t posted one. 😂 I’ll get one up.

More deets:
Date stamp in neck pocket is Oct. 2008. Body is alder with a flame maple veneer top. The single coils are Duncan STK-1. These guitars came with a JB in the bridge, but this one now sports a SD Blues Saraceno. It's more like a hot PAF trembucker. These stacked single coils do *excellent* Strat tones.

Very cool...but I've never been man enough to wiggle a Floyd wang bar...

It’s a lot of fun to wiggle.

I find that the 50s tone wiring is only beneficial if the tone control is actually used at settings below max. Super hot pickups tend to be a bit muffled anyway, so a tone control might not get much action.

And now I get to use guitar tone controls since I wire them correctly so that they actually work. 😎
