Looking for an amp and looking for ideas, suggestions. I don’t gig, generally play at home, and don’t need lots of volume. Classic rock, country, blues music. Primary guitar is a Tele. Should be a combo amp. Budget to $12-1300, new or used. Have a few pedals but don’t use them often. Have thought about DRRI, Princeton, Marshall SV20, Spark, Vox ac15, Marshall DSL40....what else u got?

I fairly recently got a couple that I like. A Vox mini Superbeetle- 10" speaker, reverb, trem. Nutube technology. Sounds great and responds to your guitar volume. Headphone/line out. 25 watts, but has two speaker outs. Add another 8 ohm, and it's 50 watts. And cool looking. A Fender Bassbreaker 007- Marshally sounding, 3 band eq, line out. Great grind and good cleans. 10 inch speaker. I have the special edition with amber tweed and a Greenback.
Good videos on both.

I think you are spot on with a DRRI on the list. It's in the price range and is a perfect at home noodling amp. But you can certainly take it to that occasional blues jam or to friends house. I did a video review on this board. I do have a Blues Jr and Vox AC15 as well but to my ears the DRRI is a better amp. Also it's made for a Tele.

I think the drri is a great versatile amp, but with a tele it just makes the tele cleans stand out. Add a touch of reverb or vibrato even better. Use your favorite OD , hit the bridge pickup , roll off the tone and volume, tonal nirvana.

PRRI or DRRI would do just fine. It's too bad the vintage tweed market is out of reach because tweeds and teles are a great match. Most of my home practice time is spent playing a '57 Champ modified with a jack bracket to play through a 1x12 cab.

Personally, I couldn't go with the DSL40 because of experiences a good friend had with (both of) his, and also many complaints I've read online. Some people love them, of course. With your budget, if you're going Marshall, the SV20 would be a much better choice, especially for reliability, and probably for tone also. Good Marshall cleans at lower volumes.

Might want to take a look at Peavey Classic 30. You can pick one up for a lot less than your budget and they love Teles.

Three watt selections 5-15-15 so no need for an expensive attenuator. Can be picked up used in your price range. Doesn't need pedals but takes them well. Basic clean is similar to blackface Fender and then everything from there is dialable. Of course you could save a ton of money and get a Positive Grid Spark and it will satisfy any home needs. It sounds better than my Blues Junior side be side at home volumes.

Might want to check out the Fender "Tone Master" series. They make a Deluxe Reverb version.

A used Mesa Rect-o-verb 25 should come in at that budget. I’ve got the head and it’s *very* flexible. Great reverb, too. It’s a bit too splashy to use much on the OD channel, but there is a reverb level for each channel.

If I was looking for an amp to play at home, I'd definitely go for a Positive Grid Spark. If I was looking for a gigging amp I'd probably go for a Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb If I wanted an amp to do both I'd go for a Katana 100 You could probably get all 3 for $1,300.

A lot of great suggestions so I'm just going to +1 walshb's post! I have the SV20Combo Marshall and it's one of the best amps I own. Strait in or with some pedals or with my Helix it never fails to put a smile on my face!

I vote for the Tone Master Deluxe Reverb and maybe a second smaller amp. I've got a Postive Grid Spark and a Yamaha THR5. They're often compared and make excellent home amps. The Spark is just plain fun and can get pretty loud, but the Yamaha sounds and feels more natural. I have the smalllest version and is just perfect for jamming at home or with a decently loud home stereo. It has an excellent clean tone that is really responsive. I find the Yamaha is easier to just plug in and play compared to the Spark. The THR5 can even run on AA batteries!
I still like to keep a giggable amp handy just in case. My loudest amp these days is a Vox AC15CC1 with the Alnico Blue speaker. I love it for its crunch, but that's about it. I want to sell it but I'll need a cardboard box. In order to get a cardboard box I'll just HAVE to buy a similarly sized amp. My next amp will be a Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb. I won't let myself buy it until I unload a bunch of small items to offset the cost though. Maybe I'll get to that this weekend since it'll be raining.
...there's a small chance I might go for a REVV D20 and an inexpesive 1x12 cab with a Neo Creamback. I'm ready to fully embrace the lightweight stuff with built-in attenuation and IR cab simulation, etc. Getting rid of my Eden bass rig is next, but less of a priority.

another vote for the new Delux revverb tone master solid state amps are great. There are demos on you tube and they sound close to the real deal and have a built in attnuator

For home playing, the Katana 50 has way more than enough volume, fantastic sound, is super reliable, and there's zero maintenance required.
And it's really affordable.
This, coming from a player who loves his Princeton Reverb.

They look great, and probably not *too* much more expensive than a new Princeton Reverb?

I've just fired up my Katana 100 for the first time since September, and I've even had a go at dialling in some effects/ presets. I can honestly say I don't think you could get a better amp for home use at any price, unless the idea of the Spark's song learning/ jamming facility appeals to you. It's allowed me to defer my GAS for a Tonemaster for another couple of weeks....maybe

They look great, and probably not *too* much more expensive than a new Princeton Reverb? Yeah, not too far off. I played an early version when they were called Hayes amps (I think), used in a shop. It sounded great and I regret not buying it. Been gassing ever since.

Update -- have bought nothing, but looking hard at the Carr Skylark. Beyond my budget, but maybe the best amp I've ever tried. Looking at used. GAS is fun....

I reckon the Blues Junior iii is pretty good! Also, if you're handy, you could build a kit. I have a 5e3 type kit amp (That James Muller built) which is fantastic! Modelled on an early Fender Deluxe, I think.

I really like being able to play quietly with a full rich tone so my tube amps don't get much use. A Tone Master Tweed Deluxe or Twin would be really cool. I don't have much experience with tweeds, but the "Cntry 1" downloadable patch on the Spark is really really good. My tele loves it.

I'd throw in the Vibrolux for consideration. It gets you more than one speaker in a smaller package, and sometimes 10s can be really nice. Sometimes people who cycle through 12" speaker amps like crazy not finding anything they like end up landing with 10s.
(my dream amp would be a cathode bias Vibrolux, possibly with 6v6s (quartet?) with bias tremolo and a slightly larger cabinet, but until I can figure out how to draw up my own circuit, it ain't happening.)

Having finally gotten one a couple of years ago, I think my answer to any amp question these days is Princeton Reverb.
"What amp for a Cannibal Corpse tribute band?" Princeton Reverb for sure.
That kind of thing.

I have a Vibrolux and love the amp. I can confirm it is great with a Tele. But I am not sure it's really a 'bedroom/living room' amp. However it is a step up in 'big tone' from a Deluxe Reverb with those dual speakers.

I find the Yamaha is easier to just plug in and play compared to the Spark. The THR5 can even run on AA batteries! Just curious, how so. I don't have to use the Spark App at all and I have 4 press a button on board presets I have set up and then also the ability to turn a knob for 7 other amp models under those presets and normal tone and effects knobs. And I don't need batteries at home but I think you can buy a battery pack that will power it for when you want to do so and still be under the price of the Yamaha.

Yeah love my tube amps and was using my Mesa-Express on 5 watts for the living room but that can get real loud. The solid state, my case the Spark, sounds amazing with the technology these days. And I now use an Eleven Rack in the studio which is like using an amp with all the normal controls on the face and it sounds REALLY good! My tubies aren't getting any play time these days since all my playing is at home now.
