Local guy has one for sale in surf green for what seems a reasonable price. I am currently w/out an offset. I've read some decent reviews online (many glowing) but some fault a cheap bridge and lackluster ceramic pickups as it's weak pts. Curious if anyone has any first hand opinions?

I've had one since they first came out.
I'm immensely happy with it. The pickguard sucked, but...I switched it. Added speed knobs.
Functionally, it's done the job and handled abuse well for a long time.
Most people (including techs) can't set up Jaguars and offsets for crap, and it shows - they start swapping parts.
The pickups sound like Jaguar pickups to me, and well, that's why I wanted it.
I'd have paid more than I did and then some.
Had mine for five+ years (got one the first week of their existence, a long time ago now)...and never thought of getting rid of it or "upgrading" it.

I should add that my Classic Player Jaguar looks gorgeous, and is cosmetically perfect, and plays very, very well - it just doesn't have IT, and the cheapie does.
I keep the CP Jaguar as a utility thing and because I just admire how it looks, but the Squier gets almost all my Jaguar time.

I heard Vintage Modifieds are great guitars for the money! If they are as good as Classic Vibes ( which many say they are) then you cannot go wrong

They don't have the 'importitis' neck width problem of the CVs.

I've had one since they first came out.
Does it take any adjusting to play the 24" scale?

Never had an issue, but I barely can work with a 25.5" as a 6'8" monster.
Played Mustangs for 30-some years now and swapped between them and Gibson scale and 25.5 and baritone and Bass VI without issue!

Yeah, I thought you were a really big guy. I figured a short scale guitar would feel like a ukelele to you.

Every guitar feels like a ukelele to me.
Bass VI feels like a "guitar"
