Ridiculous, I don't see the point. Kinda like lighting a cigar with a c-note. Those guitars could've been sold for cheap or given away. They could at least have saved the hardware and pickups.

They seemed to prove quite rugged in this test.

I don't understand destroying them by bulldozer. Wouldn't an incenerator or a wood chipper have been much more effective?

They seemed to prove quite rugged in this test. And they were still in tune after being run over! Amazing!

So that's how they relic guitars! I always wondered.
What a stupid, rediculous spectacle. What a waste.

They were very ugly guitars and deserved their fate.
How many selector switches were sacrificed?
Overkill too. You only need to look at a Gibson the wrong way and the headstock snaps off 😀

If I were a Gibson employee at the time, I probably would've quit as a result of this.
Why the management even allowed this to be filmed is beyond moronic.

Seems to be a lot of trouble just to destroy them. Agreed that the hardware could have been saved.

Probably gives some indication of how little they pay for the pups, etc.: the labor required to strip down the guitars would've been more expensive than the cost of replacing the components.

They could've donated them to kids, or music themed businesses as wall hangers. Hell, I would've bought one for a hundred bucks. Agree with Peegoo, whoever orchestrated this spectacle should've had their azz handed to them.

See Trogly’s video. I think he solved it.

Can't say the explanation video offers much more other than the likelihood the original video was made by part of the demolition crew. The way the guitars were laid out and that someone walked on the necks makes me think there was more than just some dozer jockey behind it.
My heart leapt in the 2nd video watching someone snapping that 335. Egads.

It could have been the final few Gibson employees employed the help of the crew. That seems plausible. I’m sure Gibson didn’t want those left to chance - that being the demo crew.
Yeah, that 335 scene made me cringe.

Not ashamed to admit I’ve always kind of wanted a Firebird X, warts and all. One will never turn up for the money I’m willing to pay but for a few hundred it’d be fun to have around the home/studio.
