I don't play out a lot but enjoy the Marshall kinda dirty cleans with a Marshall tube amp and a nice grind sound on the dirty side with not too much gain. Just wondered if any of you have any experience with this line of Marshall. I'm looking for Home/studio use mainly but the occasional gig. I have cabinets so a head isn't out of the question. The 20 watt combo would be ideal but the last solid state Marshall I owned wouldn't get up to gigging volume without the gain way crunchier than I wanted. What say ye?

I think it would fill the bill for you. I had a 20 and a 50 - both heads. I just sold the 20 as I like the tone of the 50 better. It had better grind, to my ears.

Based on your description, I think an Origin would work great for you. And if you want more grind - pedal!

God knows there are enough pedals around here if needed. I think i just have to get out and hear an origin 20 and 50 to make sure . I love the demo stuff I hear through my mixing gear here. They just seem to have something extra to them I like. Kinda like a tone that's always there . You can modify it but it still has it's own sound. I like the preset amps too but you tweak them then move them to another room and they seem to flatten out soundwise.

That’s a good description.
They do tubey Marshall goodness in spades.

Love my Origin 50 head (thru an Eminence 15" cab). You can run it at low powers of (about) 2 or 10 watts. The tone doesn't seem to suffer running it at lower than 50 watts. But the high power is there if you need it.
