I've been watching some interesting You Tube videos by an amp tech, Psionic Audio. He uses ispropyl alcohol to clean and dehydrate the component boards on vintage Fenders. Also uses it to clean tube sockets. I've never seen this before and found it intriguing. Anyone else use the stuff for that purpose?

If you buy some, you’ll recognise the smell; it’s the main ingredient of contact / switch cleaner sprays. And, especially familiar over the past year, alcohol based hand sanitizer gel. For electronics cleaning purposes, it’s probably best to avoid the lower purity 70% grade.

99.9 Methanol here. I think Willie endorsed the use of "denatured" alcohol. I prefer the Meth over Isopropyl....it smells more like vodka vs "Hmmmmm.....I don't think I should drink that.".....not that I feel compelled to investigate.

In the 80’s we used MEK at work but it was outlawed in the 90’s due to cancer causing agents I believe but it took conformal coating off boards nicely

We'll see how it does cleaning old tube sockets.

Sorry to have not responded to this one, darned work gets in the way of things. I got some 99% stuff off Amazon and it does the trick. Great for all forms of cleanup and is great for cleaning old tube sockets. I have two vintage Fenders, '66 BFDR & '68 SFSR that have led similar lives. Long periods of indoors storage in above average ambient humidity. I have suspicions of conductive board issues on both. Psionic Audio's Lyle shows some ways to deal with this using heat and isopropyl alcohol. Whenever work slows down I'll give his techniques a try.
