Does anyone have the Eric Clapton Strat? I'm a huge fan of Clapton and didn't know Fender made a non CS version. I like the idea of a V neck and the onboard EQ stuff. Plus as a bonus I always block the floating trem... who knew Clapton and I both hated floating bridges in Strats!

I don't have one, but I've played one a long time ago.
I think they've been making them for around 20 years, and I nearly bought one when I was at SXSW in Austin about 15 years ago. In the end I went for a black 57 reissue as I liked the neck profile better. At the time you could pick one up used for £800-£1,000, looks like they go for £1,400 upwards now 😊

I got one in 1988 for my 40th birthday. Pewter gray color with gold Lace Sensor pickups and the gain-boost circuit. Soft V neck. It was my main guitar for many years. Last year, I realized that ole EC was getting kind of creaky, noisy pots, worn frets, so I decided to revamp it. Put Lindy Fralin split rail/noiseless pickups and a splashy new pickguard. Got a pro set up too. Going to need a fret job soon, but I'm only occasionally playing it these days, so that will wait. But I do have a fondness for my oldest guitar, like an old friend.

I have a black one. Bought it at EM Shorts. Had them raise the string height a tad as it was extremely low from the factory. It has been perfect since. I think it was about $1400 when I bought it maybe 2012-2014? I’d have to go downstairs to confirm that as all paperwork, hang tags, etc are in the case.
$1385, May, 2012. Ordered it from Fender so it was a fresh build.

My friend had a Clapton, I guess from the late 90's? Sounded great, but felt a little stiff, maybe because of the blocked trem. The v was pretty pronounced but comfortable. I remember a soft-v on a used Albert Lee MM, that I should have bought, that guitar blew me away. I have a Beck (2nd edition, big neck, but lace and roller nut) and an EJ with f-hole. both are really nice imo

Never owned one, but played many.
I think everyone who is a fan will cite the neck as their favorite feature. With the electronics, it seems split. Some people keep the guitars and want different electronics, some love the original. I like the sound of the original, and if you like Clapton's tone in the past 20-30 years, you'll love the guitar. Obviously you never duplicate someone's tone by buying one of their signature pieces of gear, but in this case it is a pretty good example of what you're going to get if you pick one of these up.

I agree with others-the neck is lovely. The gain-boost takes a little time to adapt to. If you are a Clapton fan you cant go wrong with it. It does help to get close to his tone, but you don't have his fingers. This was the best guitar purchase I ever made and kind of stumbled across it. Saw an ad for music memorabilia auction in a warehouse. It was a collection of stuff from a music promoter-guitars, posters, records, signs, etc. They had 2 Clapton strats, black and silver. Lost the auction on the black one and the silver did not sell. Went back the next week where it was now part of a totally different auction. Got it for less than the going price for a new one and it is signed on the body by Clapton.

I'm in love with the tone he had on Journeyman. It's got to be my top Clapton album. If I had the money I'd buy the SLO100 and totally match his tone. It is such a cheesy 80's tone but I love it!

Funny. I always hated the neck on the Clapton Strats. I'm a huge Clapton fan and owned 2-3 through the years. All were sold because of the neck. Way too thin of a profile for me. Feels like a Modern C. Loved the sound, though. That's why I kept buying them. Thought I could get used to the neck. Just couldn't.
Always toyed with the idea of ordering one from the Custom Shop with my neck specs and a finish color that would be different.

I have one and replaced the electronics with an older DG 20 setup. There is a 9v battery rout next to the trem springs. Nice guitar not a Clapton fan
