No thread about this? I'd like to try. I have some strats I'm playing less just so I don't waste fret life lol. Both the Strat and Tele with floyd rose look interesting. Maybe they could have went with more colors? Not enthused about the noiseless pickups and the fact that the floyd locking nut doesn't have screws through the neck however

Pricey. Seems to be an accumulated list of anti vintage specifications designed to draw in non-traditionalists. Not that its a bad thing, probably smart from a marketing perspective. The biggest turn off for me is the Floyd, which I've never had a use for. Surprised that at that price range it isn't a lacquer finish, but then again that's the traditionalist in me talking.

That Tele is a weird thing - and kinda alluring in its own right.
However, as mentioned elsewhere, I'm now covered as far as stunt guitars go. :-P

I’ve been shopping Tele-shaped stunt guitars. Schecter makes one (lefty).

what's interesting about the Tele is not just the belly cut and the softened heel, which they've been doing, but the back scoop for the upper frets.

They had me at "Includes premium molded hardshell case."
Yea, premium plastic, yay!

They had me at "Includes premium molded hardshell case." Yea, premium plastic, yay! Its better than the gig bags they used to include that were basically a sheet of nylon fabric with minimal to no padding. The deluxe gig bags, however, were excellent.

Anyone know right off hand if these are available on any of the current basses?

The basic be-atch nylons were...on par with what you'd get from Ebay for $5 or less, but I'm still using a couple of the Deluxes to this day!

Nice to see Fender offering a RIGHT-HANDED guitar in any color you want ... as long as it's BLACK! (The Tele version.)
We lefties had to put up with that for years, from various companies.

When I was a kid I started out playing lefty, even had a lefty Hondo special ordered. When I was looking to move up to a nicer guitar a guitar store employee encourage me to switch since I hadn’t been playing long and he said lefty guitars were harder to get, more expensive, etc. My dad had done the same thing when he was a kid in the 60s. Sometimes I regret changing to right handed but seeing what you guys have gone through just to get good guitars I almost feel like I made the right choice.

It’s a lot easier in the Innerwebs age, for sure.

It is kinda funny because in my experience the shred guys are the ones who have the least need for stainless. They play more evenly across the neck and have a lighter touch. The people who need it are the ones who bash away and frequently hit the same boxes and chord shapes over and over. And bass players, especially if they use stainless strings, all the more so if they're slappers.
I'd be curious how they're doing it in a factory setting. Dressing and polishing frets, in factory time, takes an eternity and stainless doesn't lend itself well to short cuts. This is a big reason why your friendly local tech can do a fret dress in a brand new guitar and make instant improvements even though the guitar is brand new. Regardless, even if you have to get them dressed within the first year or two, it'll be great for some people.

I think the main draw to stainless frets for shredders is how smooth they are. I don't think nickel frets keep a mirror polish as long as stainless frets do.

And bass players, especially if they use stainless strings As a bassist, I like the idea of stainless frets but the price scares me (at least at first. G&L wants 2 shiny pennies for theirs). That said, if I ever have to do a refret it will be stainless steel. This may happen with a 1980 Jazz that I have.

I've used stainless strings for pushing thirty years, including on my basses.
I must have the lightest touch in existence.
The vaunted "chews up frets" hasn't happened.
Yea, you can see wear patterns (mine aren't normal cowboy chord runs) but everything's AOK, even on stuff I"ve had over 20 years.

Surprised that at that price range it isn't a lacquer finish. The high price of this modern stunt guitar doesn't presuppose the use of nitro, because shredders generally don't give a rat's patootie about so-called "vintage correct" or that heavily gigged look. They just happily make musical cole slaw!

I don’t recall ever seeing a stunt guitar finished in lacquer.
It also doesn’t do well with VO5. Specifically the pink cans.

What is this "stunt" guitar bidness? Is it a guitar "reimagined"?

I think a floyd rose can be played with finesse and restraint. Just having it on the guitar doesn't make me think stunt guitar. I think 15" radius, thin neck, recessed floyd, 24 frets, maybe 7 strings, scalloped higher frets...that there is stunt level lol

I recently ordered new frets for my '95 Strat, and a few tools, to do my first refret. I decided not to go with stainless, mainly because they're harder to work with. I also couldn't find any that were the correct radius for my Strat. If I ever have to replace them again, at least I'll have the tools to do it with.
