$130k? I'll pass... I'm pretty sure you can buy a Strat from the 50's for considerably less than this!

I've never owned one of the SRV sigs, but I've had friends that have 'em, and for whatever reason, they're all pretty heavy as Strat go. It's a weird thing.

I've played an SRV signature quite a few times, as the guy who runs the local Buskers' Night has one. It plays ok, but I wouldn't buy one myself.

Years ago I played an SRV #1 replica at a GC. IIRC, they wanted around $40K for it at that time. I thought it was an incredible guitar, and of course it should be, at that price. I played it through a Marshall Bluesbreaker. Incredible tone, incredible guitar!

I had an SRV signature quite a while ago. I really loved the neck on them , but the left handed trem drove me nuts. It was fairly heavy too. As it turned out I bought a 59 thin skin that had that same neck and was lighter .
I ended up putting the SRV up on CL and sold it to a guy named Sam who was the bass player for Dick Dale at the time . I thought the call was a scam as it was a California area code . He said he was in town for a gig and says he looks on CL for guitars. Great dude .
Guitars in that price range from CS are really geared toward collectors. Some of those guys aren’t really interested in vintage tbh. Someone will pay 130k for it as THE prototype of a tribute to one of the most iconic strats ever made. It’s a piece of Fender history albeit a small piece.’

It's just a guitar, it's not rocket science.

I don't know about anyone else but I want the signatures on the COAs and "letter" to match and it looks like my 4 1/2 y.o wrote "Proto #1" on there.
I'm happy to be wrong, but I wouldn't trust that sale as far as I could throw it.

I know a guy who has one. I asked him about it and he asked, "why, you wanna buy it?" He apparently didn't realize I have nowhere near that sort of money!
I had it in my head that these were supposed to be exact replicas, but on closer inspection the letters aren't right (not the reflective stickers), and the knobs look way too new. Vintage knobs are a weird thing that I don't think anyone has gotten right. Then again, maybe his actual number one had new knobs. I'm too lazy to check.
Also amusing that it is listed as "mint condition" which isn't inaccurate... just amusing.

Hmmm, only $130k. I’ve always wanted to play like SRV.
No offense to collectors, it’s just not for me, you, or most anyone.

I do have a std SRV strat, I like it, but the gold hardware is just destined to tarnish, so I think I'll flip it before it looses it's mint condition.

SRV’s number one had the letters changed shortly before he passed, which is why he went with these for the artist series and presumably why they put these on the replicas. thefalconsnest.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/last-gigs-stevie-ray-vaughan/

I got to play one of the Lenny replicas at the Raleigh guitar center years ago. It was really cool of course and was like holding the real thing but I think at the time it was about $17,000. 😳

The replica was copied from Number 1 as it was when Stevie last played it . Jimmy brought it to a hotel room where he met the people from the Custom shop . They proceeded to take it apart and measured everything then took pictures of everything. I believe they even measured pots and pickups.
