I've had two Sho-Bud Mavericks over the years and thinking about getting another of some kind. Any suggestions on reasonably priced single necks?

I play but have no suggestions for your needs. There are several forums out there dedicated to steelers on the internets. I play mainly straight steel and my stable include Dual and Quad Stringmasters from the 50's. I have a Fender 400 pedal steel also from the 50's that I need to upgrade.

I'm assuming the Quad has four necks. How are they tuned? I've only played E 9th tuning. Never touched a C 6th.

Quad does have four necks. Right now it has E6 D9 E13 and A6 on the back with heavy strings. These tunings vary as I am always experimenting.

Wow Herb! I saw a picture of the Quad. That's a lot of strings. Thanks for the info.

Mostly play Fender guitars and amps. I'm 71 and have had a guitar since 1964. Got serious in 1975.

I've owned several steel guitars and did learn to play them a little. Fun but challenging instrument.

Started with a Maverick in the early/mid 70s... bought a Pro 1 custom (Sho-Bud/cherry red) in 78. Still have it, but could never learn to make it cry.

They're showing up Herb. Steel helped me with the slide on the 6 string. Muting the strings below the bar gave me a lot cleaner tone.
