That used to be my Pro Tools machine. Since I upgraded to a newer computer a few years ago the old machine has just been gathering dust. Since I have tons of software synths and sample libraries for that old system I decided to use it as a sound module. If I can get the MIDI from my new machine to trigger the MIDI and sampler stuff that will greatly reduce the overhead on my main machine. All I have to figure out is how to sync everything together. That should be possible and I should also be able to transfer the audio from the old machine to the new one via a digital S-PDIF connection so there's no losses in the process.
That's my conclusion anyway. As in all things digital, I'll probably have to screw with it for awhile to figure all of that stuff out.

HA...I even figured out how to network the two computers together using a LAN cable. Never done that before.

I retired my old Mac last year. I'm on PC now. I'd love to do the same thing, but I seriously doubt they'll talk!
