Anyone try this one? I know the 12F150 is a popular speaker replacement but I'm curious about the 12F150a model, described as;
"Brighter, smooth breakup, aggressive, punchy, loud, curved seam inverted rib cone similar to one version of the original Chicago Jensen P12N. More headroom than the AlNiCo version."
I've tried the 12F150 model before (50w, light dope) and it fell short to my ears. The above description seems to address those deficiencies.

It's not as bright as the standard 12F150 Rounder and softer on the note's edge, with more push in the mids department. Being an American thin membrane speaker, the underside i.e. base response, will be on the soft side. all in all... Upper class. pretty decent American voiced speaker. But... know the amp you tend to put that in. The Vintage F series speakers sport a modern driver powered by a 40oz magnet. Very punchy, very touch responsive, very tight sounding... that said usually very bright with little or no speaker compression when pushed. Weber also pushes the Low dope recipe... WHY? IDK. Dependent on the amp, IMO that's a recipe for trebly upper ice pick voicing and cone cry if the amp get's pushed at higher volumes a lot.

The amp that I've pondered a speaker change in is the Rivera-era Princeton Reverb II. Despite the push/pull bells and whistles that I don't use, despite the Celestion Blue I've had in there for many years, I think it does a damn good Deluxe Reverb imitation. I had a long reverb tank put in that's an upgrade from the vertical mount shorty that came stock. I've tried the 12F150 and an Eminence RW&B (which sounded pretty good), but none sounded as good as the Blue. I'm considering relocating the Blue to a cab and finding a suitable replacement that I'll like but also be more conducive for resale, should I ever go that route. Aside from getting nada return on the pricey Blue, I can see folks being scared off by a 15W speaker in a 22W amp (never an issue through hundreds of gigs).
I dunno, just spit balling here.

Celestion Blues are serious prime time, a lot people love those speakers.
12F150a makes sense in that amp. Would get a very traditional American voicing.
EMs RWB’s: I like those a lot, I have a pair in a SF TR that I use at outdoor fairs/festivals. Very smooth and articulate, handles overdrive well

I had the little brother 10F150 on an amp (Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus). They sounded great with single coil Strat but not my humbuckers but then again it was on that particular amp. Sorry see now you are curious about the Alnico version. No experience there.

Sorry see now you are curious about the Alnico version No, the 12F150A is a ceramic. You're thinking of the 12A150. The one that got my attention, 12F150A is described as such and nearly identical to their more common 12F150: Replaces Chicago Jensen C12N and Oxford ceramic 12’s.
12″, 40oz ceramic magnet, 25 watts, 1-1/2″ voice coil, curved seam cone.
Brighter, smooth breakup, aggressive, punchy, loud, curved seam inverted rib cone similar to one version of the original Chicago Jensen P12N. More headroom than the AlNiCo version.
I'm guessing the "brighter" is the difference between the 12F150 and 12F150A. Sheesh, what a confusing numbering system.

Eminence is much easier to understand. Just sayin’. 😜
OK - not my best sales-pitch.

Hah! I probably should've held on to the RW&B as it did seem a good fit for that amp.

The RW&B is hard to fault.
