I agree with leaving it stock for a while. Unless something sounds way off, I'll just leave them be. I do know a lot of players that want every new guitar to have pickup changes, etc to be similar to their others, but I like the distinction with the variety of leaving the guitar to have it's own sound.

I will do at least one mod- install a Reverend soft spring on the Bigsby. I did this to my Gretsch and it's a fine improvement. Think I'll order on right now.

Been away for awhile. Been on a Tele kick for a while. Added this one last night (makes 4) Thin Skin 69 Thinline. 6.1 lbs.

A Thinline appears to be a friend in Missouri's primary guitar these days.
I had an original '72 years ago but traded it for a mid '60s Polaris White SG Special, which is also long gone.

Are the wide range pickups in the US version anything close to authentic? According to Fender the newer ones, last year or so have original CUNIFE magnets like the ones from the 70's...I've never seen or heard one so I can't offer an opinion on how they sound.. the tele in question probably has the MIM WRHB's...I had a tele with then in and and a tele that had the MIJ version...the MIJ version were hotter and to my ears sounded better..I also tried out a set of the Lollar Regal's that are his version of the WRHB. Nice pick ups but I don't think they sound like the originals. Currently I have 3 72 thinline parts casters with original WRHB in them...I tried using 1 meg pots as that what was in the original one's but it made them a bit on the bright side..so I settled on 500k...plenty bright...interesting though even though the guitars all have the same pickup's they all sound bit different.. I guess I was lucky to score 3 sets of the pickups when I did...they show up on ebay or Reverb now and then but never in sets...and most of them have been are in average condition..

Not a “Thinline”, but I have a 2004 USA FSR Chambered Ash in Crimson Transparent Stain and nitro lacquer that looks like a solid body but is as light or lighter than a Thinline. Has a 60’s profile neck with 7.25” rosewood fingerboard and 53 electronics. A wonderful playing and sounding guitar. A little less trebly than a typical solid body 50’s Tele. In fact, tone is similar to my AVRI 64. These special runs have popped up from time to time with varying specs. I bought new from Musicians Friend in 2004.

Thanks all! And Funky, I would likely do it that way. But then again, if it sounds good enough, I might leave it stock and just play it. I know, blasphemy. OMG!!

I like the Thin line the most of all semi hollow body guitars. I prefer single coils on them though. And a slightly microphonic neck pickup gives me a different sound then a solid body tele. I think they have there own sound.
