I just spent a most enjoyable 20 minutes experimenting with a Quilter Mach 2 combo amp at the guitar shop down the block. What an awesome amp! Huge tone in a small combo package. The amp literally weighs almost nothing but, at a 200-watt rating, it's easily loud enough for gigging. Very versatile, too. There's something for just about every amp taste. Talk about your ultimate grab-and-go... I've seen Quilters at shows before but never tried one until today. I'm hugely impressed. I'm not in the market for an amp right now, but if I was...
Solid-state technology has come a long, long way from the Yamaha G100, the beast that haunted my teenage years.

I've been playing 'em for about eight years now. My go-to amp is the Aviator 1x8 combo, now out of production. It's a 2-channel (2 x 100 watts) little beast that weighs only 25 lbs and is plenty loud for even outdoor gigs. The closed-back design makes the amp sound much bigger than it is. The two-knob reverb is superb, and the dirty channel sounds and responds in a very tube-like manner.
If you didn't know, Pat Quilter is the engineer who founded QSC (PA speakers and amps), from which he retired retired 10 years ago and started up Quilter Labs to make guitar amps.
It's all good stuff.

Aviator Cub is officially out today. I played the proverbial you-know-what out of it last week at work. I may get my first Quilter.

I missed out on a used Aviator Gold about a year ago, and I haven’t seen a single one for sale here since then. :-(
I’d never heard of the Cub, but I’ve just read a couple of reviews. If the UK price is competitive, I can see myself getting one. ;-)

Hmm, it doesn't look like they are on sale in the UK yet, although Thomann have them. Looking at their price, it looks like they are going to be about 1/2 the price of the Aviator Gold, and not much more expensive than the aviator 1x12 cab!!! Also undercutting the Tonemaster series by £300-£400!
I'd set my heart on a TM deluxe, but if the reviews are favourable and the demos are good I can see this being a no-brainier.
Just a shame I got a Blues Cube Hot last week :-(

Didn't see one review both times I Googled it. I see lots of listings of specs but not one true review. Hmmmm.....

There are several reviews on Youtube.
The big difference between the vast majority of SS amps (including the Fender Tonemaster series) and Quilter's designs is this: Quilter uses all-analog circuitry to get the tone. Most all others are digitally modeled.

There is a "review" on Premierguitar.com (don't know how to link), but it is really just a product description. Still doesn't appear to be on sale in the UK yet

That Cub looks really nice. Do these take pedals well?

I've played a Micropro Mach2 for several years now and it's my go to amp. Not a fan of the boost chanels so I never use,but it takes pedals beautifully. On the down side, on some of the older model such as mine, they got a batch of bad selector switches ( the boost and voice on mine) that I had to replace myself, an operation that's akin to surgery. So be careful if you by a used one to avoid that can o worms.

My local dealer, who is also a friend has been singing the praises of quilter amps for years. Today I traded my Roland Blues cube stage and a bit of cash for the Quilter Aviator Cub.

Cool. Please let us know what you think.
The lower wattage, 12" speaker, and light weight makes that amp an attractive item.

A/B’d the Quilter vs, the Blues Cube Stage I was trading in, I’m a Roland fan, but no comparison. The Quilter was alive with depth and chime that the Roland couldn’t muster.
It’s at home now and I’m up in Maine with my Tele and Fender LT 50, which is “adequate” for its purpose in the secondary location.

Our CUBs are all sold. We *have* four more on order. The first run sold out quickly. This amp will be quite popular.

Still not on sale in the UK, and it looks like Thomann (Germany) have sold out. :-(

I like the "Tweed" channel on the Aviator Cub in the demos (don't care for blackface tones). And, in the past I've seen one or two used Aviators for sale locally. But, although many say they sound almost as good as a tube amp, I'd like to know how well they cut through a band mix unmiked, especially outdoors. It seems to me that everyone is a Pro and always has their amp miked at gigs. I'm just a hobbyist who is looking for another "just for fun" band that will probably never do anything other than a handful of outdoor private parties. I've never had my amp miked in the past, and doubt if I ever will! Plus, it seems to me that the Cub's 50 watts might not be enough for outdoor gigs.

Peegoo has been telling us about these amp for years. My interest is definitely growing. (Confession: I always hated the logo. I would get a custom plate made with a new font. It'd still say Quilter though.)

That Quilter Cub is one of the best solid state amps I have heard.

Bought the CUB today. We received four new ones yesterday. Tried the floor model one out this afternoon. Seemed...*seemed*...to have a touch more gain than our previous two. I took it off the floor immediately. For the first time in 4 months and 2 days, minimum, I played an electric guitar through an amp at home. 😁

I saw a Quilter display when I pickup my my Squier Jaguar last week. I'm glad I didn't plug in. If they make a bass head I might be interested after I unload my Eden rig.
---Edit: they do make bass heads. Uh-oh...

I will say, in a similar realm, I prefer the Quilter over the TMDR. For some reason people are comparing the two. Not *that* similar in my mind and certainly different in price.
