It ended up being $25 with tax, free shipping.
It is a Kmise Digital Delay. Aluminum case, only powered with a 9V, 300mA power supply.
It's actually pretty good. For $25, it's fantastic. It's a delay, and it works.

Nice. It's easy to forget that sometimes all we need are simple things.

The sound quality of super-affordable effects these days is astonishingly good.
Mass production of outright copies of classic pedals is a thing in Shenzhen, and they're also turning out pedals under different brand names that are not ripoffs, but original designs.
Just a few short years ago, cheap pedals sounded cheap.
To quote Inspector Clouseau, "Not anymore."

Kmise, Donner, Joyo...
There are some cool inexpensive pedal offerings these days.

I've got a few new cheap ones like Behringer which are ok...... but I've also got a few vintage ones, and my overall fav is an Ibanez analog delay from 1980, this thing can do some very cool sounds:

That's a cool pedal. I was curious, so I looked it up, people are asking $300 or thereabouts for them on eBay.
I may get the Kmise analog delay as well to see which one I like better.

Caline is another cheapo brand that is pretty good.
Without even hearing it I bought their Crazy Cacti which is (supposedly) a clone of the Fulldrive.
I think it was right around $30, although I got it year ago, and a quick search looks like they've gone up about $10.

i have a pure boost from azor that I think sounds quite good. i'm sure it's the same under the hood as donner and the like. under $25.

For $25 bucks it's a no brainer! I don't need another delay pedal! I don't need another delay pedal! I don't need another delay pedal! I don't need another delay pedal!

quick update: the azor pure boost that i mentioned above stopped working over the weekend. no sound when it's engaged. checked the power, cleaned the inputs, nothing. it's two weeks out of the support period amazon has, so i emailed the seller, and they have a one-year replacement warranty. but they're out of the pure boost, and it might not be in stock for two months. they'll replace it with something else.
and a quick question: could this issue be the switch? it feels perfectly normal. i guess i can't damage the pedal any further by dismantling it, but i guess i should know what i'm looking for before devoting an hour to such a thing.

nope. tried plugging it in and using the battery adapter, both of which power on other pedals.
so i pried the switch apart and cleaned the little metal plates inside. now the led comes on (it didn't yesterday), but when i engage the pedal, there's no sound.
they're sending me a new pedal, so i ain't too worried about it. just kind of a quest now, though i don't know enough about electronics to test anything. don't think there's much else i can do.
