Its a paperback book-sized device that attaches onto the back of your acoustic guitar (with magnets placed inside your guitar), and plugs into your pickup output. Dial up an effect (like plate Reverb), and it's speaker generates a reverb sound, vibrating the back of your guitar, and mixing with the acoustic sound coming out of your guitar body. So you can sit in your living room with no amp, and play with acoustic effects sweetening the sound. The youtube demo shows how a couple of the effects sound (3 reverbs, chorus, delay/echo, tremelo, overdrive, autowah(?) )

At first, I kinda got seduced by the demo's on YT, "wow, pretty cool". But then started thinking "when the heck would I ever really use this?" maybe in an acoustic jam or singalong with my friends...?" But at $250, do I really need this? ...maybe I should wait for Behringer to clone a cheap version...

So for now, I've got my Roland MicroCube gorilla taped to the back of my Taylor, and am having fun.

I got one when they came out about seven or eight years ago. They are pretty dang amazing for what they do. You need a guitar that already has a pickup system installed for it to work.

It does add spice to your tone when playing with others, and it doesn't really amplify the sound much at all. The most amazing thing it does is reverb and delay. When I play it with others who are also unplugged, eyebrows go up all around...every time.

I got one last year. Yeah, it's a neat little box. I've never bothered to send it through an amp but it's great unamplified. The only downside (it ain't much of one though) is that it tends to want to turn my acoustic into an electric. That is, I end up playing things I would normally play on an electric; not all of my acoustic tunes are asking for effects. It's pretty dang cool though. I would be happy with just the reverbs but I do use the delay once in a while and I actually quite like the Leslie sim (not sayin' it sounds like a real one).

I would feel better about it if I'd only paid $200 but I don't regret buying it at all. That said it seems like it could be a lot cheaper.
