I need to go. I have been putting off for some time now. I can't quite put a finger on it.

I've achieved what I can only assume is one of the most amazing farts after each adventure. Unfortunately each of these did not have an audience. A great fart not shared is one that is wasted. Plan ahead.

I mailed my poo to a lab a couple years ago and they told me I was fine.
Unless a colonoscopy is warranted, I will always go this route.

I’m due this year after a 5-year hiatus.
Mailing a sample to a lab makes sense. I’ll have to think about that one.

I'm with Leftee. Mailed the sample in, negative. 92+ % accuracy.

Regarding those "mail in" colon tests ...
Let's devote some time to those dedicated, unsung worker bees in the lab, who give that sought after "thumbs up" you're looking for on your poo sample.
Things to know:
Even though your -self provided samplings are called "occult" blood tests, few of the workers eyeballing your donation in the lab are witches, wizards or warlocks. This is one reason why you've never seen a movie called, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Poo." (There are other reasons we need not go into here)
Among the hierarchy of trained lab technicians, those angling for promotion are never accused of "brown nosing" by their peers; it's considered impolite.
There is no conclusive evidence that "Poo Techs" wash their hands less often than fast food workers.
Those dedicated to poo testing, are the ones least likely to be asked about their job at the dinner table, even among close relatives.

I've got the kit sitting in the "to do" pile at the house. Or should I say the "to duty" pile.

Mine was ordered by my GI doctor. I’ve been having stomach and bowel issues.
One of those, just to make sure things. I was due this year anyway. I’d like to make sure also that there’s nothing wrong in there.

I'm on the five year plan. After my first, I had photographic proof that my ex was completely wrong about me.
Right now, I'm on deck for an endoscopy.

I've got the mail in kit still in its box from November. I got a call from my doctor's nurse this morning telling me to get it done, that the company called the doc's office (after I blocked their number)...

Had mine done a couple months back. No polyps or even biopsies, but did get internal tattoo markers telling future surgeon where to cut. Got a rotten 1 ft section that keeps getting infected. In addition I'm past due for a 3 month therapeutic phlebotomy (blood letting) for high hemoglobin and hematocrit. Can't donate blood because I'm on a 3 month rotation looking for more melanoma.

Had mine a couple of months ago. No polyps, just diverticulosis (not -it is). I started a thread on the old FDP about it.
My PCP said the Cologard thing would be okay, but my oncologist said a real colonoscopy would be more accurate, so I followed his advice. Or directive.
One way to start a thread that a lot of people post on is to make it about your upcoming colonoscopy.

I had one about 4 years ago. It goes without saying, that I was *not* looking forward to it, as this was "uncharted territory" so to speak. :-(
I actually fainted in the prep room. Hadn't fainted for decades. I was conscious for the whole procedure though, with the TV screen right in front of me, ( not sure if this is normal procedure), but I was so doped up I honestly didn't feel a thing. Apparently I was talking absolute gibberish afterwards, although I was insisting I was fine to drive myself home. ;-)
Hope it goes ok Ryder.

I do not like not eating! thanks

I've had 2 colonoscopies and 2 EGDs in 3 total procedures. In each case twilight anesthesia was used and I was totally out. Best naps I've ever had. I don't understand how or why anyone was awake for these things, that's just crazy.

Hi Ryder, funnily enough, I've never considered that :-0
I've always assumed that I fainted due to stress/ anxiety, although you're right, I'd eaten nothing for over 24 hours. I was quite embarrassed. :-(
Unbelievably, the nurse was actually telling me how the patient before me had fainted, and the next thing I knew I'd blanked out. So it must be quite common.

I’ve had a couple of colonoscopies. I’m due again in a couple of years.
I keep hoping they come up with a better alternative. It’s not the worst thing that can happen to you by any means, but still...

Every two years, my doctor tells me: "I want you to put some poo in an envelope and send it to the government." I hope he's talking about the colon-cancer screening program.

You guys want to talk dirty? I went back for a barium enema. The doctor asked me about the colonoscopy. I said I really don't remember too much. He said you'll remember this. I remember.
