For just $2,699. I don't think it would be much better, if any, than my 2002 Epiphone Casino Elite, MIJ so I believe I'll say no to that.

I was going to say that $2,699 sounded about right for a USA Casino, so I checked ebay, and there are a couple listed for £6,500 to £9,500 here !!
I’ve got a MIC Casino, and it’s okay.

Ah I see. That makes them more expensive than a Gibson 335!

They are that expensive only because that's what the Beatles used. Particularly John Lennon. Otherwise they would be $1000 or less. I usually thought John played rhythm guitar well but his sound was awful most of the time.

They don’t even do a, latter day, stripped-down John Lennon version.
I’ll stick with my 2020 ‘not made in the USA’ Casino.

To be honest, I only got my natural Casino because Lennon played one in the rooftop concert. I even bought the exact same guitar strap It sounds great for the Beatles stuff, maybe not so good for other stuff, but I only paid £200 for it so I’m happy

I have a really nice "Inspired by Lennon" Casino. As I recall, it has Gibson P90s and US electronics. Sunburst. Really nicely made. Got it from Sweetwater on sale for $599. Much better than a Chinese Casino I previously had.
These are discontinued but would be a great used one if you an find one.

From memory they were over £1,000 when they were available.

I bought a 2002 Casino Elite, MIJ, new in 2002. All USA electronics and hardware. Select woods throughout, nickel-silver pup covers, etc. Top notch build and is a great playing, great sounding guitar. It does much more than Beatles but that too. Paul also has a Casino and it is him on solos like Taxman. He still uses it in the studio and on stage today. I paid $749 for mine at EM Shorts. The Elitist Casinos last time I checked were going for nearly $2,000.

A lot of great guitars came out of Japan, some of the old lawsuit knockoffs were really nice too. I've got an old MIK Sheraton that is really nice, I've tried several of the newer Chinese ones and I'm not impressed. They look the part but that's where it ends IMO.

I can't imagine the USA version is better that the Elite/Elitist version.

The Casino Elite was made right alongside of the Gretsch Pro line of hollow bodies. Pretty sure the Elitist was too.

Since I missed/couldn't afford them the first time around, I'd like to find an Elite or "Inspired by" on the used market. Thanks to this thread. An old band mate has the MIK version. Great sounding guitar.

Does it come in natural or will I have to sand it down before I crawl into a bag? 😄

I've owned a 1996 MIK Peerless Casino for over 15 years. Great guitar but I've had noise problems with P-90s on some theater stages. Since I play relatively clean I like the warmth of the P-90s better than humbuckers.

P90's sound great, but there is the noise. I consider it a sacrifice for how good they sound. Noiseless P90's are close, but similar to light beer

Strats and Tele’s are noisy too. Just turn it up!

The noise of single coils is music to my ringing ears.

I have a bleached out "Lennon" Casino. it was vital to de-peace-and-love it ASAP, which I did.

You're probably committing some kind of sonic sin with the mis-matched knobs.

Isn't that how they came from the factory?

Isn't that how they came from the factory? My brother had the Lennon Casino that was either already sanded down or didn't have a finish to begin with. It came without a pickguard, but had holes for the pickguard screws. As if it had had a pickguard, but the pickguard was removed.

I think I'd rather have a Gibson ES 330.

I was thinking about a regular epi casino at the time and they came out with the Elite then called Elitist and later changed to just elite.

The cost of the 10 to 20yo E/E is why I decided to buy this.
Like it was mentioned, they are going for 2000 and that's without tax and shipping. So I'm looking at possibly 2200 for a used guitar or I could buy a new one for 500 more. Gibson didn't charge for shipping or add on sales tax. I'm still on the fence.
