Could you please give suggestions for jazz tunes that you would expect to be played at a jazz jam session or open mic.
I have an ambition to get up and join in at the local jazz open mic one day and I need to focus my learning on the most likely tunes to be played.
Of late I have been learning bits and pieces of a range of songs so I am thinking of concentrating my practice to learn 10 songs down pat.
Autumn Leaves is one that will be on the list.
thanks

Fever Take Five Summer Time At Last Chan Chan
From time to time I pick a tune to learn that is way above my skills. It can take me weeks even months if I work on all the parts and even at that it’s not great. It takes me out of my comfort zone and forces me to play what seems impossible, Chan Chan was my most recent “Over Reaching exercise” the way that song starts is just so cool. The vocals are way above my pay grade.

Hit the Frank Sinatra or Wes Montgomery song book for ideas. All the above are great starting points adding:
The Way You Look Tonight The Summer Wind Georgia On My Mind As Time Goes By Smile (Charlie Chaplin)

Now you have way more than 10 songs. Whoops.
