I had a real crappy day yesterday. Everything I tried to do didn't work out for one reason or another. Today I got a lot done. I got all my high end mic cables made, I set up the AC15 with a Royer R121 ribbon mic and the new Sennheiser e906 and recorded loud guitars for a few hours through the API mic preamp while the misses was at work. That's the first time I have had a chance to really scrutinize the API in my studio. It sounded wonderful. To top all that off my new U87 came today. The room didn't interfere with the recording either so the acoustic treatments really did the job. I actually pulled 3 of them down off the wall and put them around the amp to curb any reflections. That worked great. I pulled the amp out away from the wall between the bed and dresser. Then I put a baffle on each side and one across the top. I left the front area open to try and keep it from sounding boxy. Boy it sounded good. I am very pleased. I had already removed the top baffle when I decided to take a photo of the setup. i.postimg.cc/Jncctxqg/Recording-Guitars.jpg

That may be the first time I've seen a 906 on a stand, sir.

That may be the first time I've seen a 906 on a stand, sir. Yeah, they're usually draped over the amp. I wanted it to stay put once I found the sweet spot for it. Having it on a stand made positioning it a bit more precise. I didn't want it touching the amp or grill cloth either. Didn't want any sympathetic vibrations getting into the mic from the cable.
