I believe we’ll keep it as is for now and worry about “later”, later.
Thanks for the input all!!

The Moe’s forum would’ve stayed Moe’s anyway. But I was most persuaded by those who felt like if there are people out there interested in joining, they’ll find us. Even if not, I kind of like that we’re a small group. It’s part of the character of a place like this. Even though the FDP has thousands of members, I would venture to say a couple hundred made up about 90% of the content at the end. I feel like for the most part, the majority of those folks moved over here. That’s who MT2 was built for, so we’ll keep that going.

The FDP had 60k+ unique registrations over its lifespan but I doubt there were more than a thousand active at the end in all the forums.

Most here are are like “family” from FDP and the way Chris set the FDP to point here will bring a few. I like the rules to keep it “clean and Civil”

I'm late to the party I know . . . For some reason Pickin' & Grinnin' came to mind.

Upon further thought I think keeping it like it is would be best.
If some of the old FDPers that might have been kicked off the forum could come here, be civil, and follow the rules, that could be a good thing.

I feel that any forum needs new people who want to become members to survive. It’s great that all of us are for the most part FDP junkies but it’s important to grow. Otherwise, this forum will start to have members become bored and stop posting and then stop visiting altogether. In the business world, “If you’re not growing, you’re dying”.

Thats my assumption as well, with fewer than that actually driving the train. Exactly why I think attracting new members would re-vitalize the group. I'm surprised that there is reluctance to changing the name to something more descriptive. Now would be the best time to do it. Later will meet with even more resistance to changing it. Oh well, I'll still enjoy MT2.0 for what it is. So be it.

Could always tag something more descriptive on there, like “Moe’s Tavern 2.0 - A Musician’s Discussion Forum” or something like that. It’s really long but it’s just be for the keyword.

Exactly, plus what happens when us older folks start to “diappear” lol. And do we project “geezers” , young, or something in between? I personally like “ something in between “ that is attractive to most Not just a 20 year old or 67 year old like me

Free Food-stamps, Medical Insurance, and Phones for the Millennial Forum.
“If you’re not growing, you’re dying”.
I disagree. There are many examples of those who do not want more business than they can handle, and are prosperous and happy in their stability.

By all means keep it Moe's. The name (and the people) are already kind of an institution, built up over a long time.
I just don't see what is to be gained, but I do see a lot that could be lost.

I suggest, if you want to indicate this is a guitar oriented forum that you use a guitar pick icon like we used on the FDP for the tab rather than a giraffe. We used Fender's tortoise shell 351 pick as the tab icon.

What would be the objective? More membership? A different demographic? Less cantankerous old people? Fresher perspectives about instruments, music, musical ambitions in the 2020's, etc.?
Maybe sub forums for the micro-genres of the day (ya know, mumble rap and stuff). Moe's could then become like a retirement home for those who served in the FDP back in the olden days. Keep the smell of old spice and Ben Gay confined to one forum.

The original name was the Fender Discussion Page, "FDP" for short. That name made it pretty clear it was a music/guitar oriented forum. Came up on searches. That's how I found it way back when. I could be wrong but I think early on there was even some actual Fender page that mentioned the FDP too.
I've seen some really good suggestions here that give a little better indication of what this place is about, the same way "Fender FDP" did. I don't think a new name is going to bring in some massive stampede of obnoxious young guitar playin' yahoos. It might not even make much difference at all. In the meantime CG's link is still there at the old site for any of us remaining FDP geezers stumbling around trying to find their way here.
"Moe's Tavern" was only the name of the sub forum for general discussion and it's a great name for that. By all means that sub forum should remain as "Moe's Tavern".
and that's another $.02 from me.

All there in reversed order.
