I'm a big fan of instructional YT videos. I've picked up a lot of good information and expertise on all manner of things; like putting together something that came with blurry Chinese instructions. But I gotta say, that some of these DIY experts are in over their heads when it comes to the actual filming part making videos.
Watched one the other day to see exactly how to wire up some batteries. Great shot of the batteries, but whatever the guy was doing to them was out of the frame. He apparently noticed this later on. But rather than re-shoot the video, he added a caption: "some of what I'm doing is out of the frame, but you get the idea." Uhhh... no I don't.
Or the guy that takes us under the car with him. Jerky, out of focus ... obviously holding the camera with one hand, and pointing out the affected parts with the other. Can't tell which blob of out-of-focus areas he's pointing at. Or, the guy who has the camera mounted properly, but the volume is so low, you can't tell what he's saying, even with the computer speaker on Eleven. Or the well meaning foreign gentleman, whose accent is over-the-top, it's difficult to determine exactly what language he's speaking.
Anyone else?

You'll not want to watch 'Scotty' unless you want to suffer an epileptic episode. If you ever watched him then you know about his wildly swinging arms antics. He does the same thing with his camera in almost every video he does. He should come with a warning label.

I don't need the background music to learn how to change line in the string trimmer.

Goes with those instructional videos on how to play a song where the person talks for 20 minutes about the song, who wrote it and the inspiration and hidden meanings in the song....give me freaking break.

I thought this was going to be a thread about your adult film career.

I just had an experience like this. We were changing the shift cable on a Honda HRX217 mower, and when we got down to the transmission, it was not at all obvious how the cable was connected and secured, as it was obscured by the transmission pulley.
I figured they would be lots of videos on how to change it, but there was only one. It was only 15 minutes long. I watched the video, and it was about 10 minutes of him fumbling around removing a few obvious bolts, and then about 4 minutes glossing over a few less obvious bolts.
He was jut finally getting to the transmission, the money shot of the video, WHEN HE LOST ALL THE FOOTAGE OF HIM REMOVING THE OLD CABLE AND INSTALLING THE NEW ONE. The video just jumped immediately to the cable fully installed, and a link to the thrilling Part 2 of the series, where you get to watch him fumble around with a few bolts for 15 more minutes to reinstall the removed covers.
It was a complete and utter wasted of time. Why would you even post a video like that?
Oddly enough, the comments all seemed to be saying what an informative and entertaining video it was. People are weird.
SPOILER -- I eventually figured out that in addition to the little screw in clamp you could see, and the Z-bend where the cable fit into the shifter, there was a screw under the pulley that went through a small bracket mounted to the end of the cable. There was a hole in the pulley that allowed access to remove and replace the screw.

LOL I'm having lunch tomorrow in Lewiston, NY just a few hundred yards from where his Dads garage was! He's wacky, but a former Western New Yorker.

I do believe they strap the camera onto the head of a seal, put roller skates on his flippers, and then turn him loose in the wedding reception or whatever. Trying to watch these things makes me queasy in nothing flat.

They're probably normal people who clap on one and three.
Probably know nothing about motion picture art, or any other type of art or the making thereof.
